I have made a truck (almost) from scratch. The tanker (tank itself) was E.A.'s and although she's probably out of size ratio compared to Addicts trucks and that humongus bus of HS, I think I have it to scale compared to actual cars in the game. Gawd, I hope that I am not the only one who hates the size of the traffic bus and Semi?

Anyway it's almost ready to be released but I am having troubles with 7th gear. It just locks-up the rear wheels as soon as I change. No matter how many ratios or what variation of ratio I create it's as if the game will not accept more than 6 forward gears. In total I am using "9" gears (reverse, neutral and seven forward gears) so that's not it. I did try for more but the game simply refuses double digits.

This is not just a baic Carp.txt question, I can answer those myself. I need replies from people who honestly know all about ratios toque curves etc. & most of all, running a 9 (or more) geared vehicle in HS.

.... Justin? You are as up with Carp editing as much as anyone I know. Is it possible or do I need to drop back to 8 gears (6 forward gears)?

Thanks to anyone with any useful info. It's been bugging me for weeks.

The closest that I have ever come to making that work, when I shifted into 7th, the car acted as though I turned the engine off. Until someone proves me wrong, (i'm listening ;) ) i'd assume NFSHS doesn't support more than six gears. :(

Dang, I was hoping that you wouldn't say that.

I get the same effect, she doesn't over rev but it just locks 'em up.
To think, I worked my way back from 16 gears initially. When I finally got down to twelve gears I installed Excell and your RPM to Velocity table using the manual fields for the first six gears then used the auto field for the second, higher end, half of the gears. Just for the calculations. Sheesh, I really thought I was being smart there. heh

Thanks for putting me to ease Justin, I have wasted days on that carp at least now I know that I don't need to waste more time.

The best I have ever done is have it so the nutral was 1st and 2nd was 3rd and 3rd was 4th and so on and that worked fine except that it kinda messes up when u start but hey its still cooooool to me.

Yeah, you can do that with reverse too, just remove the minus in the VTR. So you can have up to eight forward gears, but only at the expensive of neutral and reverse. :(

Thanks hum dude & Justin, the idea did cross my mind but with a semi you aren't really thinking of thoroughbred racers, just a change of pace. So reversing is part of the fun.

Doesn't matter, six forward gears will do. Thanks for your suggestions.
