As most of you know (because you helped out) I setup a cooling system on the computer just over a week ago

I'm happy to say yesterday it was wet, fairly cold weather, and most of the day the CPU temp didnt exceed 36 degrees celcius, the motherboard was sitting on something ridiculous like 28 degrees or something and the HDD wasnt much warmer!

It did warm up later on in the afternoon but I think thats because of the heat build up in the room

I'm also happy to say it now averages 40 - 42 degrees CPU, 33 - 35 degreees motherboard and 30 - 33 degrees HDD

Currently its CPU 40.5, Motherboard 34.0 and HDD 30.0

so all your help and suggestions payed off, and its running fairly quiet too, just a slight humm noise which is to be expected with what 4 fans and a massive cpu cooler fan ^_^

WHAT?! I couldn't hear you over the jet flying overhead! Oh sorry, that's just my pc! ^_^ 2 fans running and it's horribly loud here. Everyone asks me whats wrong with your pc it's so noisy! Think it's the power source. So a light hum from your pc with half the fans must be great, but these are also econo parts. :D Paid a whole $200 for mb, 128ram, duron running at 900mhz (can easily go faster). Anyways, good news to hear your computer isn't a morphis blob of plastic and metals from overheating. ^_^

My computer is also terribly noisy..

I'll get around to doing something about that someday.. Or maybe I'll just put together another box perhaps, and get another monitor, who knows, I'll think of something. :)

Nice to hear that our suggestions made a difference for you. :)

Its god to see that something is finally going your way Y2k.

I as know your ather well, things like this dont usually work out for you, normally fire is involved or at least soemthing breaking beyond repair.

maybe some good luck has finally come your way

I finally upgraded my monitor, I got a LG F700B and some 256mb kingston ram, cost $257, I wanted to get a 2000XP cpu but didn't have the extra money, but I want that cos my mobo can take it and my 1.3 is falling behind now.

Those LG monitors are quite good actually, I was looking at one a while back, and I think it'd do 1600x1200 resolution at 75hz refresh rate - that is excellent, and I think it was about AUD$350 or something like that.

It seemed like a great deal. I've been looking around for some Sony E230 Trinitron Multiscan screens and to my dismay, they aren't available anymore, only the big 21" screen is still on sale.

Sony seems to have abandoned the high-end CRT displays and is concentrating on those crappy little LCD flat panels, despite the fact that they don't match the colour quality, brightness and sharpness of the traditional Trinitron CRT displays.

I agree, but people don't care about quality that much, it's more about space I think. But the 19 inch monitor can support 1280 @75hz and I'm not sure what LG will support 1600...

Yeah it was worth it, my old 15 inch monitor was dying and the ram i really needed cos I literally couldn't run anything with 3dsmax running.
