Apple just released the new iMac this morning, and it has a 1.6 or 1.8 G5 processor. :D
I'll have to see it in person before I fully make up my mind, but I think I like the design of the old iMac G4 better. The video card is a bit of a disappointment, only a FX5200, okay on the low end perhaps, but not on the high end, expecially when there's a Radeon 9700 in the Powerbooks. But other than those two issues, I like it alot. -^

BTW, i'm writing this on a dual-processor PowerMac G4. Sadly, it's not mine. :(

I wouldn't mind getting one of those for my wife. She only uses the computer for homework, internet and e-mail... I have an old AMD 650 that I put together with Linux so that she could use that, but she insists on using our main computer because it is bigger, better, faster, etc.
I bet I could talk her into using that 20 incher pretty easily :)
Now if I only had $2000 to spend on a new computer. =[

I like the old iMac G4 better for looks, but the G5 has great processing power.
But I still prefer the G5 towers though.
I wouldn't mind any G4 or G5 myself, be perfectly happy, I use Emacs at school, pretty boring, but oh well.
I like the Macs personally, the Studio where I record at uses the G5 and it's bloody good when it's been beefed up (it's worth around $7000 Aus). But that's mainly for music. But I reckon it could handle anything :)

They can handle nearly anything.
A lot of G5 towers find use in things like pre-press work. That's sort of editing and adjusting/verifying advertisements and so on before they go into large-scale print. They do things like adjusting colours, etc. Sometimes they work on 500mb files in Photoshop. That takes some serious processing power.
