Following the success of the V8 Mod for the F1C maybe some of you guys could make a V8 Mod for F1 2001. I have no idea how to mod the game but maybe some of you do. Let me know if it can be done.

Nobody uses F12001 anymore, it's too old. Hardly any mods are made for it.

If I were you lot, I'd wait for rFactor:

www.rfactor.net

When it is released, it will be possible to make mods for it. With a bit of luck ISI might offer some decent support to mod teams as well.

It has been suggested to ISI that it might be wise to include Gmax support as well.. We'll see what happens. Given that ISI is not limited by some big publishing company now, they are free to go all out and create the racing sim they've always wanted to make. :)

Whatever you do, wait for the newer GMotor 2.0 engine in rFactor, it will probably have a lot of the bugs from the older Cube engines sorted out and fixed.

I most eagerly hope that it will be possible to use an entire texture with alpha channel for the entire car-body, without rendering errors.

Another problem is that the V8 supercar mod team might get very unhappy if another mod team did the same sort of cars..

There are unofficial rules for F1 mods that sort of go like this

- One may not model cars already started by another mod team, except in the following important cases:

a) The other person or group involved happens to be, or is involved in a famous mod team, in which case the person who started first should IMMEDIATELY cease what they are doing, unless they wish to face the rage of the fanboys of the aforementioned mod team!

b) The other mod team ceases to exist, in which case it is a free for all, but exception A still applies..

Give me a while and I'll think up some more fabulously nasty and sarcastic stuff... ;) It pretty much sums up the whole concept of mod-police!

Another problem is that the V8 supercar mod team might get very unhappy if another mod team did the same sort of cars.. dunno, I mean if you look at their RSC forum their even advertising someone elses mod which is same sorta deal.

Personally I think I'd take their attitude - which is If I can do it I dont really care what you do!

On the topic tho I'd love to be involved in such a mod like that, and I'd be curious to see if we would be able to heavily V8 Supercar mod out a game.

I still wouldnt mind a Nations cup sorta mod, but the real deal is a bit shaky at the moment so we might leave it at that 8)~

A Pro-car mod might be a very good idea.

I don't know, but maybe you might even be able to enter into some sort of collaboration with the RSR mod team, and they might be able to help or donate some physics, if they were to get something in return for it.

Their World GT mod features some similar cars as in Pro-car, notably the 996 Turbo (also raced elsewhere in the world), and the Diablo GTR, and the 550 GTO.

The real Pro-car championship will survive, with parity rules and adjustments ditched, and with the car entry requirements changed to mirror the FIA GT championship. That is very important because it makes things less of a struggle for people to enter the championship. New teams can simply buy an existing car (like a 550 GTO, a Viper GTS/R, or a Lister Storm, or a Saleen S7R for instance) and go racing no problem what-so-ever.

The removal of parity adjustments also eliminates the unfortunate squabbles over unfairness in the parity adjustments. Prancing Horse Racing (who entered the Ferrari 360 GT Group N car), and Team Lamborghini Australia (who entered the Diablo GTR Supertrophy class car) complained particularly bitterly about the unfairness in the restrictions. Brad Jones who once raced the F360 GT reckoned with the restrictions it was hard work even to pass a Lancer Evo on the straights, that is how severe the restrictions were.

Also required is a new management who won't be percieved by many as being biased towards one large, big budget factory backed team who were entering cars that for one year were technically illegal under the rules.

yeah, as long as they have the monaro in there, I'll be fine, because a Corvette wouldn't do for us aussies, and we need some local representation, I know the Monaro isn't technically road legal, but neither are the rest of the cars, no matter how much you say they are, they are all tuned up, the Monaro's slightly different but at least it gets veiwers.

Anyway, I don't own F1C either, but it's Sony's fault, I can't find it anywhere cos of that.

why what'd sony do?

Sony = that pathetic excuse of a F1 2004 game for playstation.

In comparison, on the PC, we have F1C 99-02 with the RH2003 and RH2004 addon seasons, and it is brilliant. The RH2003 and RH2004 seasons are brilliantly done, absolutely top professional quality.

In fact, you could go as far as calling the game F1C 99-04 now.

Because of Sony's F1 license, the other F1 games are very hard to find now. By and large, F1C 99-02 was a fine effort from Imagespace, and one of their most moddable games to date. They deliberately did it like that, as a final sort of stand, a sort of see what we can do when we want sort of thing.

Ford Fan, the game only costs around $30-40!! ^_^

And no, not many people mod F12001 anymore. Not much point.

Not all computer technicians make plenty of money. It depends on what it is doing.. Some only get very low pay, while others can be on around $200K -250K per year.

Multimedia developers can make decent money too, but if you want to get into that stuff, you have to work super hard. The money is good, but the work is hard, and often you will end up putting in lots of hours in overtime in some occasions.

But the fortunate thing is once you are "in" so to speak, you will find it fairly easy.

Fortunately for me, the big project I'm working on at the moment is near finished as well. :)
