Hi guys,

I've got xp, 1.6Ghz with 256ram and a GeForce2. Last week, when I installed PU I found that when I finally changed the compatibility options to get the thing running, the graphics were all blurred and pink. But after a little fiddling around in the GeForce settings I got it workin fine.

Except one thing...

The frame rate is really bad. No matter If I run PU in the lowest setting or highest, I still get a problem with the frame rate. It runs smooth, until after every second or so there is a pause and so forth. It makes the game almost unplayable and unattractive and I really want to play it properly!!
PLEASE HELP!!!

P.S all my other games run fine, theres nothin major runnin in the background, I have a no-CD patch. I can see theres plenty of ram available b4 I run it, and I've read EVERY thread and tried every method to sort it but it ain't workin.

Cheers,
JD

Hello Jenk
Just wanted to let you know your problem has not been ignored. Thing is, I have no "unmentionable" idea what could be causing it. I am however, looking into it.

well, if it appears on all settings - the problem might not be only PU itself, rather then some "spyware" that leaches your system ressources
to be sure check your OS for virus/spyware and such

but since PU is the only game with those problems I`d blame your "compatibility" settings
PU is to be used best with some older GFX card drivers and should do ok on your GF2 & 256 MBs of RAM

Hmm, it might be that compatibility setting. If I enable win98/ME compatibility, the game runs like a total slug. With it off, it runs fine. I know people don't suggest to delete or rename gimme.dll since it's a memory app, but since I don't play online, I decided to keep it handy somewhere and disable it. I've tried out all the tracks, including Normandie, which is supposed to crash when you get rid of the dll but so far, nothing.

The only problems I have is just the blurred out texturing. At some point of fiddling with the registry and settings, I was able to go one up from the default value of zero and it looked decent. However, I wanted it to really get it to work and somehow the detail went back to zero.

Anyways, you can try that compatibility app that's floating around that will allow the gimme.dll to run properly on 2k/XP systems. Of course, if you have this already than I dunno. I just assumed that you changed the compatibility options via Properties of the game.
