New Car!

Well i've finally got my hands on a 106 Rallye, series 1, cherry red... what ive been looking for for the past 6 months :)

it goes like shit off a shovel too :D and the handling is superb, very stiff suspension... my kidneys are killing, 260 miles in 1 day of driving :p

its got a few scratches and bumps here and there, but nothing a bit of tlc cant handle :)

Chris: The 106 Rallye was a stripped out car specifically made for use in starter rally-driving classes. It's a special 1.3 liter engine to confirm with class engine-size of the time, but tuned to 100 hp at over 7000 rpm. It was delivered with white steel rims so you could put your own in later. For the normal GTI market the 205 was replaced by two cars, the 106 XSI with a 1.6L engine and the 306 S16 aka GTI with a 2L 150 and later 167 hp engine. The 205 was originally planned to be replaced by both the smaller 106 and the larger 306 that were both matching the general car-class size unlike the 205 but in the end people wanted a 205 again so they made the 206 and I know that thing all too well.

Hey neat! When I first saw the pics, I was reminded of my friend's little Ford Festiva. We took that thing places that even huge 4x4 trucks were getting stuck! Loads of fun I must admit, and no need for a tow chain should you ever get hung up, 2 strong men can easily lift it up in the event you ever get high-centered. :)

Well, I don't know if it would really be an "investment". For the most part, cars are usually quite the opposite of an "investment", since they seldom, if ever, appreciate in value.

Hehe, I think I understand that.. I'm smitten with the 206 RC (aka GTI 180), but it is too small inside, to the point where I don't quite fit... :( Still it was an amazing little car. Small and light, but with 180bhp!! In a 206! Unbelievable combination. :)
