Hey guys. I've recently been in America for about a month. While I was over there I started playing DJV8C and I'm pretty impressedwith the better selection of cas than EA's go at it. If anyone has a copy of it please let me know.
Sure the graphics may not be as good as EA's but it's still a good game.

Please let me know if anyone has it

I think I had 2001 cars or something? I'll see if I can dig it up.

DJV8C is the first game I ever edited :D Gee that takes me back

It's an old v8 game made in 98 or 99 that had the Shell team GRM and others. Today the graphics look absolute shite. Though I never played the game so I don't know what game play/ AI is like.

DJV8C was a funny game, played it once but can hardly remember what it looks like or how it played.

was it over in the US?

when i find the cd i'll post some screenshots

i reckon it might be a dodgey game but the tracks were ok and they were easy cars to texture, as the game made the textures look awesome and realistic

At least they sort of felt like V8's, and, well, rolled onto their roofs like V8'!

monaro

what tracks did it have?

skaife_fan

It had Queensland, Oran Park, Sandown and Bathurst.

Try having a peek on Ebay for it mate, u might come up trumps with the things you can find there.

I ended up scoring a brand-new unopened copy of SCGT the other day after not looking on Ebay for a few months and been hunting for the game for almost a year.
It was the SCGT / Superbike 2000 twin pack i only really bought it for SCGT but got it at a bargain price so im happy with that, the game aint all that bad actually, at least the AI are better than the ones on V8C! ^_^

08-17-2004, 04:11 PM
yeah SCGT is an alright game, especially when we mod it

If you visit the SCGT forum ive got a list of downloads there, although I think some may be in active.

I'm also shortly going to upload V8 Supercar tracks and cars to V8 Shakes, because some can be dodgey or like a 5 MB download and it doesnt work!

Was there also another V8supercar game released ages ago? I think it was called Bathurst something I remember trying to borrow it once but it was stolen or damaged

The only other game I know of was Touring Car Champions

Ive got it here, its a 1996 HRT based game with some other dodgey teams.

Basically its a video footage background and the rear end of an animated VR HRT. You can drive as Craig Lowndes, Peter Brock, Mark Skaife and I think Steve Ellery.

It was $10 in a bagain bin when I brought it in about 1998. If I find it i'll hookup some screenshots

Oh and for any interested I'm going to upload some of the newer (old) textures for DjV8C ... not that its going to affect many people

That was probably the game I remember a HRT car on the cover. I would be interested in seeing the textures for DJV8C I might even install it again. Also does anyone know if there were any websites on this Touring Car Champions Game.

nah it wasnt popular enough

I cant find it atm but I know ive got it somewhere

I think it mightve been the 1995 #05 and #15 VR Commodore promotional cars on the cover, might be wrong tho, but it was a VR or VS with dark blue and white livery

Anyway if I can dig it up it'd refresh my memory

Hi
Can someone please send me all of the skins made for DJV8C possibly or give me a link to download them
Thanks

I've played DJv8, it never felt normal or 'right' when playing, as though it was both a sim and an arcade game at the same time. sometimes it was like driving a v8 supercar, other times it was more like a hovercraft.

A.I were bland-go-around-in-circles type of thing.

Graphics were average for their time, but being about v8's we sort of forgave them for it.
Someone made an editor for the skins.

I was just having a look around and I found this site http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/7782/DJV8/archive.html. That site has a patch on it but I have never tried it. But I think this is the offical one here http://www.hesinteractive.com/djv8_update.htm I think its the same but the second one would be a more trusted one. I cant find any skins but I remember finding a site with them one day so if I do Ill post the link here.

I cant find my skins anymore ... dunno where they've gone

I'll search for my very old first HDD backup cd which may or may not have them

ok found em

I'll upload these tonight to Aussie SCGT as a Zip...

Mezera, year unknown - Denistron Commodore (possibly 2000 or 2001)

1999 - Skaife

2000 - Skaife

2001 -

Ambrose
Ingall
J Richards (?? Bathurst version HRT or J as in Jason Richards TKR??)
Bright
Johnson
T Kelly
Lowndes (Bathurst Green Eye Monster)
Skaife
Murphy
Perkins
Radisich
Richard Mork (?? may be another teams car but not renamed file??)
Richards (assumed to be Steves FTR)
Seton

V8 Single Car - program used to patch the cars

Will upload tonight or tomorrow

Also thats the same patch, although you wont really notice much difference I dont think

Cheat : All you have to do is type MOUNTAINKING as your name in the player's name page. Then after you have selected your track, simply scroll through your selection of cars which will now include 2 x Holden Gemini's (woo hoo) and 2 x bitchin' looking Corvettes which would look perfect at home on the drag race strip.

Dick Johnson V8 Challenge? Well excuse me for laughing because that game was lame.
It looked ok compared to my little sisters atari system games but it was crap with a capital C.
When you crashed the cars would just about always do a mickey flip onto their roof . Sometimes it felt like you where driving through glue and then soon as you got used to that it would feel like you where driving on ice.
Even for the early 90's it was total rubbish.
I bet Dick felt like a dick and regretted putting his name to it. ^_^

Y2kGoofball
10-08-2004, 01:22 AM
yes but back then what option did V8 fans have?

We had some Aussie Muscle V8 Supercars for NFS and that was about it

Shane how'd ya do that? Mine crashes to the desktop

True true Y2K,,but like with most things Car game wise, imagine what it could have been like if they actually did it properly. They always seem to go full on and put their all into it for about 80% of the game and then when it's just about finished they seem to say.... stuff it that will do.
Also game developers don't seem to realise that although their designers might be Braiaiacs and clever at making shooter & adventure games, that means Jack S**t when it comes to making Driving games. It's obvious that some of these guys don't have a clue
