A few of might now from my forum in shop talk about my 1992 Civic SiR. My dad and I have done some weight reduction work on it, takin out my sound system, and put that in the Camaro, stripped out everything unimportant and work like that, well when we went to get the SiR aircared along with my camaro today, we got them to weigh our civic, when I saw how much it weighed i almost $hit myself. It only weighed 678 lbs. My jaw dropped for sure. I qwas just wondering if this is as light as I think it is?? Anyone else out there know if this is incredibly light?? keep in mind this car has been stripped and totally rebuilt by my dad and me.

Are you sure you saw 678 "pounds" and not killograms, because there are cars that weigh around six hundred pounds and those cars you can see next weekend in Imola, yah the F1 cars. If truly it is 600 pounds then great accomplishment my friend, truthfully 600 pounds is devilishly light. If the car would be 600 kg it would roughly be around 1200 lbs which is about the weight of a rally car, which still is crazy light, so yes nice work man...:HB:

I would seriously even doubt 678kg, that's 1491lbs, nearly 1000lbs less than the lightest stock Civic. The drivetrain alone in a Civic probably weighs 400lbs or so, that'd only leave 1000lbs for suspension, body, glass, interior, etc. Also, World Rally cars weigh 1230kg, not 1200lbs. That's 2706lbs, the FIA mandated minimum weight. I don't know what body style your Civic is, but even if it was a hatchback, i'd say it probably wouldn't be much under 2000lbs without going to very lightweight body panels.
Just to put it into perspective....
modern superbike - 350 to 500lbs
alledged weight of your Civic - 678lbs ;)
Harley or Goldwing - 800lbs
Lotus Super 7 - 1000lbs (if you've not familiar with this car, imagine a really big gocart)
F1 car - 1320lbs (FIA minimum)
stock Civic - 2300 to 2700lbs
WRC rally car - 2706lbs (FIA minimum)
Toyota Camry - 3300lbs
Fullsize truck - 4500lbs

Sorry bout the mis-info guys, I'm looking at the slip right now, and it's 680 kgs, roughly 1300 lbs, Still not bad for a 92' Civic. So is this still really light??

Most small cars weigh at least 1000kg, and up to about 1500kg
