Nice, I like those ones with the blue 350Z -^ these are also the first ones to show some new environments except for those 'Hollywood Hills' ones we've seen until now.
Funny how the city screens appear to have a 'green wash' over them, then again, many of the developers interviews do mention variable weather conditions, so maybe that is what we're seening in action on those pics. ;)
Heil: many of the interviews promise a lot of new gameplay features, so while it obviously won't change the style of the game, it will certainly be more than just NFSU with a few more bells and whistles...

Thanks.
I wonder about that first screen, would NFS U2 have the option to tint headlights...? It looks so blue. :?
Also a strange wide-angle distortion on the second screen, I'm wondering if we're seeing a replay camera effect at work...

they might have those xeon headlights in the game that have that blue tint to them?
We'll have to see I guess. heh..
Bah, no V8s damn rice burners!

THe Midtown Madness-quality traffic cars ruin the visual effect.

More screens, and again the lights don't look very good.

Wow..
Bad tuning taste hits a new low.. :( I never thought I'd see an RX-8 vandalised in such a terrible way (how did they manage to get a license from Mazda, to do that??).. Can we get through the game without installing these ugly additions?
Also, I note, why in dark lighting conditions are the Imprezas headlights (switched off) so light compared to the surrounding bodywork?

I'll second the complaint on traffic cars, other than transparant windows, the traffic cars in NFSU don't seem to have improved visually since the days of NFS3, despite having 600 some odd polys in NFSU. These traffic cars look like badly modeled versions of a toddler's toy cars.

Ditto
Looks like the same ol' same ol'. =[
More like another $100 track expansion pack just like previous NFS titles. :nope:
I can do better traffic cars in my sleep too!
this is the reason why I dislike most jap cars chris, because you can make them so horrible and people actually like em like that!
The suburu probably has chrome in the headlights which would maike it brighter then the body.

What? That's a Mazda?
As far as licensing goes, it's probably just another Ford.

The tacky add-ons make it difficult to distinguish..
Shame to see something like that done to a good car, even if it is in a game. I really like the RX-8, it's different to what the rest of the conservative car-manufacturing establishment would do.
It was a bold, risky design from Mazda and it works brilliantly. Love the Renesis rotary/wankel engine too - it has the same power as the old 13B twin-sequential turbo engine from the old but very elegant RX-7, but without using any turbochargers at all!
The RX-8's power per litre figures are exceptional. 141kW per litre is amazing, especially in a road-car engine powering a car with a relatively modest price.

I agree with Chris on the ugliness on that RX-8 =[ a beautiful car in its own right, but that bodykit just looks tacky (I also never liked those roofscoops, I barely used them)
The wide bodykits were unlocked a few races before the end in the original NFSU, it was the last feature to be unlocked and a sort of ultimate visual upgrade... you didn't really need it to progress though, as far as I know. There were 2 sets available for each car, some of them fitted okay, but on many others they just looked tacked-on, or made the car look bloated. :?

i hate the bodykits aswell
But who said these are final.
I've asked my EA conacts several times. All I got after asking if we would be stuck with these horrible kits or would get real manufacure ones was "you'll see :)"
And my contact also asked me to send him a list of kit manufacturers he could pass on to the development team.
So there is that chance they might switch it.. knowing how EA likes to spend big bucks on licenses and might get reall once later.. I'll wait judging the screens and wait for more details on the game.

Sounds cool, and here's some more screens off of the official site.

There's lots of screens at NFSUnlimited (http://www.nfsunlimited.net/index.php?go=screenshots&cat=nfsu2) such as:

A Skyline
http://www.nfsunlimited.net/media/nfsu2/screenshots/109.jpg
A Sentra, (what's that car ahead of it?)
http://www.nfsunlimited.net/media/nfsu2/screenshots/110.jpg
Is that the Lexus IS300? I like the grill.

Thanks for the heads up on those new screens, I guess that's the first ones that take place in the evening, rather than in the middle of the night. Nice to see a change of atmosphere.
I think the car ahead of the Tuned Sentra is a stock Sentra. I'm surprised to see that car in the game, I had the idea it was the least popular of all in the first game. :?
I'm not sure about the 3rd car, it looks like a Lexus, but it also reminds me of the next Skyline generation.

Sweet!!! I knew it looked familiar. It's a cool addition but it's pretty much a re-badged Nissan 350Z. They are based on the same platform (I think) and they only main difference is the rear end.

Infiniti G35 is simply a rebadged V35 series Nissan Skyline 350 coupé. The Skyline 350 and the Nissan 350Z (aka Fairlady Z) share the same base.
I wonder, will NFS U2 feature the possibility to have a Skyline 350 with the X-troid CVT transmission? (Like in the range topping Skyline 350 GT8).

Never heard of the Skyline 350. I looked it up on google but didn't find much. Do you have any links to pics or info? Anyway, I don't see much of a point to having three cars with the same base in one game. And, I've never heard of that X-Troid CVT Trans. What's good about it? (besides great fuel economy and a quiet cabin - j/k)

Nissan Official Website: http://www.nissan.co.jp/
Skyline official website: http://www2.nissan.co.jp/SKYLINE/
The Skyline 350 is the latest 3.5 litre V6 version of the long-running and popular Nissan Skyline series of saloons and coupés sold throughout many Asian countries (and also in Australia and New Zealand sometimes).
The X-Troid CVT transmission is one of the rare examples of its type that can be fitted to a powerful, torque rich engine without problems.
Everyone knows the advantages of a CVT transmission in that the engine will always be at exactly the right RPM's, because of the continuously variable nature of the gearing.
So if you can couple that to a potent engine such as the VQ35DE, you can achieve wonderful performance.
The X-Troid CVT is what they call a toroidal CVT:
http://www.jatco.co.jp/E_JATCO/PLAZA/TECH/CVT_01/sld001.htm
One of the hallmarks of a CVT transmission, especially when coupled with a V6 engine is seemlessly strong acceleration. You don't have any let up in the acceleration as with a normal automatic or any manual gearbox (including sequential and double-clutch manual arrangements such as the Porsche PDK transmission and Audi's DSG), it just keeps surging forward.
The sound can be a bit strange, because you don't have the usual dips and rises in engine revs, the engine instead remaining at whatever RPM's are sufficient.
So not only do you get improved performance, but fuel economy also tends to be superior. It's a far more efficient arrangement.
However, makers tend to put "manual" modes on their CVT's, in order to allow the driver to select from preset fixed ratios, but the transmissions typically work best when left to do their own thing.

Cool, thanks for the info. Well, here's some new shots of the G35 off the Official site (These shots are nice!):

I'm liking the colour and the rims on this car, although the grill and the blue headlights look a little off.
http://images.ea.com/eagames/official/nfs/underground2/us/screenshots/800x600/800x600/inner_city_chill/screen_3.jpg
This Mitsu. reminds me of the Skyline. Anyway, I don't like the look of the front wheel well, it looks way too wide for the wheels. The lighting on the paint looks cool though.
All the kiddies want the r34 skyline because it is cool, and because it's arcade the transmission used means jack because it all works the same in game.
I was looking at a 997 porsche the other day, and someone at school saw it and asked, is that a 350Z? I couldn't beleive it, another reason for me to dislike them, regardless of how good their motor and gearbox is, the Germans have done it anyway before the japs I beleive.

The paint still doesn't reflect the environment. The light shining off of it isn't even the same color. Each car appears to have a set of white spotlights on it.
EA have gone overboard with
a) Paint jobs/viynals (sp?)
b) Body kits.....ughhh. Someone please call the taste-police!
my 3 cents ;)

C'mon guys, the latest screens look cool IMO. I don't see any ugly bodykits on the lastest screens and I've seen no pics with outrageous viniyls. There are only like 5 screens in total with vynils. Also, explain how a paint job can be so "outrageous". All the paint jobs I've seen look realistic to me.
It looks good, dont get me wrong. But personally, those bodykits look sooooo tryhard, theres no finesse =/ imo.
Anyways. Each to their own.

big, squary widebody kits are ugly...as are the rear round bumpers that stick out on that wrx...i hate huge front and rear bumpers that stretch the car like that :nono: ...the rx8 imo looks good from the front but the rear quarterpanel sticks out too far and is too squary compared to the rest of the car...its obvious its an rx8 cause of the shape of the roof/rear window...
finesse is NECESSARY in making body kits! :HB:
