NFS 8 and EA....

Well, having just been over to the 'Need For Better Speed' forum, I've seen something over there that I find a little.....odd.

Apparently 'Spinout', one of the head honchos over there has been asked to remove all mention of NFS 8 from the forum, which is curious, no?

The reason given is that apparently the game is going to be officially announced at E3, a big electronics/entertainment industry 'look what we made/did' show, that is happening some time in May.

I think these guys at nfbs are getting too good at speculation, therefore, EA wants everybody to shut up in regards to whats next.
Hey, it's a free country as far as I know, so you can speculate all you want, and if you're close, well, so be it. :D

It would appear that information on this game has been posted on the net.

Based on this quote, i'd assume it's not speculation that EA is concerned with, more like actual game information leaked by someone at EA.

So I don't think it's unreasonable for EA to ask that such information be removed. NFBS doesn't really have to comply, but if they want to keep up their relation with EA, it would be in their best interest to do so.


That's my take on the situation, and I could be wrong. But if i'm right, then there's nothing really to see here except that EA basically just gave confimation of the "rumor", (leaked info) whatever it was.

heh, look at NFSCars, ND4SPDWorld etc. We all posted new on it after a German NFS site organised a chat with some of the producers, then we were asked to remove it... :p

hmm, i wonder how much EA would pay me to keep my mouth shut :D :D

actually that chat that happened, really wasn't supposed to happen, the guys in charge didn't know about it, and I imagine they were quite miffed when they found out..

You gota keep in good with EA, besides it's not like there was a whole ton of information to get rid of.. heh..

I have heard some very interesting information that'll supposedly come out eventually and be a very nice surprise for everyone.

I don't think it was anything more then a request from Jon, if you wanted to fight it there is probably no reason it couldn't stay online, but that would make you a bit of an outsider to EA. THat's not the best idea for a fansite.

I think there are a few frayed nerves in the industry after what happened to Valve software (their source code for half-life2 was allegedly stolen)

I think its a bit much, i mean it would be a real stretch to guess that the follow up to nfs7 would be called underground 2. NOT. ^_^

I think if EA employees dont know they're not supposed to talk to the public then they need to look at their induction procedure and make sure they know it. I mean the stuff they're working on is like National Defense, right.:Peace:

Sorry Vic I've not heard any plans for MCO2, but maybe they'll put some of the cars into a future NFS, who knows...

NFS UG2 and Most Wanted are the ones I've heard of so far, in that order.

Who would want to steal the soure code for UG2? I mean the engine is assumably the UG engine which in turn is the HP2 engine and the HS engine so it isn't that bad, but Half life 2 has been waiting for relse for many years and NFS is just being pumped out each year for sales and nothing more IMO

But yeah I do have a few things up my sleeve.. not gona say much yet as it's too early but I'm gona try and get some stuff rolling for the community about UG2.
