So, which is your favourite of the limited series Ferrari cars? I'll list some of them in the poll above.
Here is some info on the cars:
288 GTO: 2855cm³ V8, with 32 valves, DOHC twin-turbocharging, twin-intercooling, 300kW@7000rpm. 500Nm@3800rpm. Top speed 306km/hr. 0-100km/hr in 4.9 seconds 1317kg weight.
4700cm³ V12, with 60 valves, DOHC, normally aspirated. 383kW@8500rpm, 470Nm@6500rpm, 9000rpm rev-limit. 329km/hr top speed. 0-100km/hr in 3.7 seconds. 1300kg weight.
Enzo Ferrari: 5998cm³ V12, with 48 valves, DOHC, normally aspirated, 485kW@7800rpm, 660Nm@5500rpm, 8200rpm rev-limit. 350km/hr (claimed) top speed. 0-100km/hr in 3.5 seconds (Autocar Magazine, driven by Dario Benuzzi). 1300kg weight.

I was going to vote for the 288 Evoluzione, but instead voted for the F50.
It's so hard to choose between these, since Ferraris "limited series" cars are always so well done. But the F50 has something about it, the terrific scream of its V12, that sounds so much more extreme than the F40, and the whole style of the thing.
I guess it is the emotive appeal of the F50 that makes me like it so much.
If I could, I'd have both the F40 and F50.

I like the 550 Barachette Pininfarina the most, it looks awsome and is a good gt as long as it don't rain, but oput of the cars us aid there, my fave would be the f50 too.

The F50 GT1 doesn't count so I would say enzo on the basis that it is one of the best supercars ever and is only slightly slower than a McLaren F1 but still drivable and fairly comfortable inside.

You could consider it a part of the F50 series, even though only 3 exist.
It was nice that F50 GT1. I count myself luck to have seen the third and last of them. The thing is truly amazing. All of the body panels have subtle curves. And it is truly small, and very low.
The interior has nothing in it. It does have the normal F50 dash shape, but that's it. Gone are the eye-catching cold-cathode instrument displays of the standard F50, replaced with a single LCD display. Across the centre of the dash, is a panel with multiple switches for controlling various functions. Apart from that, it is featureless inside.
It sounds just like a normal F50, but the typical F130 V12 scream is more high pitched, and louder.
A Ferrari F1 car also shares a V12 engine of the same basic design, but in 3.5 litres capacity and with 730bhp. It claims 0-100km/hr in 3.4 seconds, and 0-160km/hr in 4.3 seconds.
The F50 also features useful active suspension.
That F40 is something amazing. It is possibly the most raw, even crude road-car I've come across. It is a stripped out shell, with everything ditched in the pursuit of low weight, and with an extremely potent little V8 in the back, delivering enormous power and torque for such a small size. I believe the F40 can actually out-accelerate the F50 in some circumstances.

I'd rather have the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO thank you very much, only 36? of them made....and one of the prettiest body shapes made.

the f40 is almost as quick as a Mclaren F1, i got it in a Road&Track somewhere in my room, when i find it, i'll post it.
radiacal, what about those old dino ferrari's? those were pretty cool too.

Those old ones were the 246's. They had a very small V6 powering them. It was part of a Fiat racing engine program or something like that.
The F40 might be quick, but it's not Mclaren F1 fast, unless the F1 driver was tremendously off-the-pace.
The power/weight ratios between the two are quite different.
F40: 320kW/tonne
Mclaren F1: 405kW/tonne
Tiff Needell reviewed the two, I think. I'll find it, and post a link:

(That is the link I downloaded it from)
He drives first the 360 Modena (nice), then the F40, and reveals it is the first time he's ever driven one, and then finally drives the F1.
He really pushes both the F40 and F1 to their limits. :) It's not often you see them being driven right at the limits.
here is the whole story...
http://www.norwoodperformance.com/Bonneville%20GTO.htm
"The Bonneville GTO is the World's Fastest Ferrari, clocked at a speed in excess of 266 miles per hour. That speed is the highest recorded in the AA/BMS class (modified sports car)"
Oh, it might not be for the street (obviously, duh! ;) ), but it can kick the crap out of a McLaren F1 on top end speed. Oh well, still a good read...

None of them, the BEST ferrari's ever were the 330 (and there were street versions made) and the 312 race car, nothing sounds like it, it's just amazing hearing it in full song, it's like a 12-cylinder orchestra of valves and gears, an absolute symphony.

I wonder, Chris, did you get this idea from evo magazine perhaps? ;) (February Issue had all 4 superFerrari's in one test to find out which was the ultimate driver's Ferrari - the result was a little surprising.
You can find a small handycam video taken by one of the editors on this page: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/video_gallery/evo_video_gallery_story.php?id=42958
Small clip, poor image quality, but the sound makes it worth the download.
Hey, no one voted for the 288 GTO yet? Boo! :yell:

I didn't know of Evo's test.
Seems they have mostly the same cars, except for the super-rare 288 Evoluzione.

:) Here comes a vote for the 288 GTO :)
My 2 cents:
Only one that looks like a good ol' sprts car.
I don't like the design of the others.
They may have performance, but they don't have the looks.

I think I have only seen the F40, F50 and Enzo.
And out of all of those I would probably say the Enzo stood out slightly more than the others. I saw the F50 at a couple of shows, and never thought it was anything amazing. Not sure why, but it wasn't a real drooling car for myself. But then seeing the Enzo, I almost had as much excitement when I saw the McLaren F1 XP4.
Obviously a couple of flaws in the Enzo, strange designs. But Ferrari, still 10 years behind the McLaren, and almost dead even in stats. Would have expected a slightly better car though.

It's a pity the F50 wasn't closer to the GT1 because it was supposed to be fairly slow compared to the F1 and not much faster than an F40. Top speed: F40: 318 kph, F50: 322kph, F1: 386kph. Hmmm...

One of the things the F50 apparently did well was give the driver very good handling responses.
The steering was always said to be very direct.
I remember someone from Ferrari saying that the F40, F50, and F140 (aka Enzo Ferrari) followed closely the design trends in F1 racing.
The F40 was supposed to be sort of like the old Turbo F1 cars, with very brutal power, and being very raw. The F50 supposedly tried to focus not so much on brutal power, but to deliver more responsive handling, and give the driver a better feel of what is happening, while the Enzo is supposed to represent F1 trends of today, with big power, and responsive handling.
The F1 doesn't really fit in with any of those trends. It was all about being the ultimate design statement, such as the ultimate in engineering, design, performance and so forth. It definately had the ultimate engine for nearly all purposes.
It's notable that no other supercar has come close to matching the F1 overall. Some have out-done the performance achieved by F1, but none have done better overall.
Murray's idea or philosophy seems remarkably similar to what Porsche has with the Carrera GT, ie, he wanted the purest driving experience, not diluted in anyway.
If there is a possibility of one car maybe being the next big thing, then I'd say it might be the next car coming from Dauer Sportwagen. I don't know if it will be a new 962 Le Mans, or an improved one, or something else, but if the previous cars are a guide, it will be very fast.
Certainly the current one causes mayhem wherever it stops, crowds gather to look on in amazement. It apparently causes quite a stir:
