For those with ATI Radeon cards, 9500/9600/9700 Pro, or non Pro does NFS HS work on these cards??

I've ordered a 9600 Pro card and am hoping my copy of HS will run with it as it just wouldn't with my current GeForce 4, no matter what I tried.

If it works, I can finally bring my NFS site back to life :)

I had NFS PU running on my 9800 PRO earlier, the 9600 is similar to the 9800, so it should run just fine. :) Suspecting that HS and PU use the same graphics engine, you should be able to play it.

Hope so, it was one of the reasons why I bought the 9600 Pro. HS ran fine on my 9000 Pro when I had it.

I just 2 weeks ago I went back to an ATI card. I had a GeForce 2 card and always had problems with Porsche. Had to by pass up using 5 or 6 updated drives for the card and use an old one just so I could race with Porsche. What's the use of having one of the lastest NVIDIA cards, if you have to use an old driver for it so you can run any game.

I went back to ATI, and now I can run any game I have with it where it all looks great and runs fast with no hassles.

I use it for video's mostly, so I got the ATI (not Radeon) "All In Wonder" 9000 64 mbs DDR ram. Mines not the gamers card, but it runs all the games I've tried so far like the ones my NVIDIA card didn't. Or did with some but with hassles.

I paid $40 for Mightnight Club II and couldn't run it with the card I had. It worked, but the graphics stunk, and the cars all drove in super slow motion so I just uninstalled it. When I got this ATI card, I noticed Porsche ran and looked great. So I installed MC II again and have been having a blast with the game. It is a fast and fun game. Even NFSU demo has been fun. It runs and looks great.

Hmm, I just got a 9600XT, NFSU and NFSPU run great but HS only seems to work in software rendering mode. I tried both a fresh install (v4.0?) and patching it to 4.43, neither works in hardware mode.

I haven't played with it much to see if I can fix it though, since I haven't played HS in years that doesn't bother me. Hopefully it'll work for you when you get your 9600Pro in.

EDIT: Oddly enough, NFS3 runs great.

I think spotpatch.zip and 3dsetup.zip will help HS work properly with most newer cards. The files can be found here...

Been alwhile since I played HS but I know it made my GF2 work.

Good luck

The 1.4ghz Duron is slow, you'll be able to run NFSU, but not as fast as a Radeon 9200 would be capable of running. Try to get an Athlon if you can afford it, the Duron is a very low performance processor.

You won't see a big speed increase using DDR 400 with that slow of a processsor. You might save some money if you used DDR266.

Also, there's not much of a difference between a 9000 and a 9200. You might could save some money by finding a 9000.

If you used DDR266 and a Radeon 9000, you might save enough money to get a Athlon processor. Here in the US, a Athlon XP1800 processor is usually about $50. I don't know how expensive it is where you live.

A Athlon XP1800 and a Radeon 9000 would run NFSU fairly well, much better than a 1.4ghz Duron with a Radeon 9200.
