For some odd reason the RP chat , along with the NFS Cheats and NFS Cars chats have been very quiet recently. I also noticed activity on NFS Cheats has been in a decline for the past year or so. Even NFS Cars has experienced a slowdown.

Yeah, I agree - we've had a solid regular base in the chatroom, but it's only maybe a maximum of 12/14 people, it'd be great if we saw more faces from the RP crowd join us once in a while...

Sometimes it takes us a few minutes to reply (we do have other things going on) but usually folks will answer in 5 or so minutes given the time - we have a web based IRC client that will automatically connect you and send you right into the #racerplanet channel as well - main link (http://www.racerplanet.com/chat/) and there's a mirror link (http://flimflam.homelinux.org/chat/) in case of anything being down.

Folks who use Trillian can also connect, the info. as Venom posted and other folks that have mIRC or X-Chat or even any other IRC client can get there...

The Channel reached it's 1st birthday on December 26th last year, it'd be great to see more of you guys and girls on there, try and keep things going and alive - I think we've all noticed a decline in NFS activity... let's try and keep it up - Racerplanet is about all kinds of racing sim, and general chat, often it's nothing to do with cars at all :)

Anybody is welcome at anytime, the only "restriction" in there is basic bad language rulings, and flood/spam protection, which is the same as the forum.

If anyone has an issue with anything, feel free to ask anyone in there, the ops (those with a @ or crown smiley) are there for assisting, also - or if it's a connection issue, reply here, PM me, whichever - we will be happy to help out.

Yep, when I do open uo the old mIRC browser, the RP chatroom is one of the rooms that *always* gets opened, if I'm not really on mIRC to talk to people from RP ;)

The laws of average would suggest that there are certain times of the day when there will be quiet periods.

It is generally very busy between 14:00 - 04:00 GMT. If you come in during those hours you will likely find a number of people chatting away. After that there will be people there but they may be flicking between other things.

There are normally people in all the time, but they may not be looking at the channel when you arrive. It is best to say hello and wait for a reply:

You have to give it more time than that! Or connect during the times stated above. Open the chat and leave it open for a while and check it until someone starts a conversation.

Not sure about the ident response, however the chat mirror is up - it was down for about 20 seconds this morning whilst I was pootleing around, I guess it's unlucky you caught it at that time, hehe...

Enable the mirc Ident option in connection and allow a ident port via you firewall etc. NB it doesnt need to be the default 113 which can be a security risk, so set one in mirc and then set a rule for your firewall/router for the ident port you assigned in mirc

hahaha, just kidding... i've never known it 100% dead, it's just timezone differences etc... I'm not around as much as I used to be as work gets in the way of stuff... like this weekend, i'll be stuck at work doing a damn stock check.

I am around occasionally in the week between 17:00 - 23:00(GMT) as are most of the others... it's just down to trying to time things right to fit in with the rest of the world, which isn't always possible unfortunately... plus, if you are like me and flitchy and flimflam... the irc window isn't always the one with focus as tinkering with a little programming be it C++/PHP/Html or whatever sometimes makes us forget that there might be someone in the chat, like the others say... just load up the irc client and leave it loaded (It uses very little bandwidth being text based chat) and just alt+Tab it to the front occasionally to see if anything is happening.... you never know, you might luck out and get to talk to a bunch of nuters :)

Does anyone have a server-list of where #Racerplanet is on since the two undernet-servers (EU + US) seem to be less than reliable. I know there's at least one more since Flitchy gave me link but I've lost it.

Undernets' server list can often change, eu. and us. are round-robin names for each of the continents respective server list - irc.undernet.org being a round-robin for all (round robin meaning theoretically they should randomize the actual server being accessed each time, though it doesn't always work that way).

The chat works fine for me, although I do use mIRC. I would suggest a chat program like mIRC overy the site's Java based chat ;)
