Looking Outside Right Now the parked cars have a good coating of snow…
I took Video of the Snow falling, http://www.geocities.com/nfs350r/SMOV0010.ASF but it is very hard to see, so I had to turn on the Night PIX and point the camera at the street lamp… You can see the snow falling….
Also I took a photo with the Night PIX on and off. Both times point the camera at the Street Lamp.

Hmmm, and go figure, I was out today in my T-Shirt drinking beer on the patio. It hit +10 here, and the snow is almost all gone. I know it won't last long though, because I hear next week gets crappy again.
BTW, it isn't really snowing until you can't actually see the street lamps anymore! :D :D

Jippee it just started snowing over here, not much just a little -^
We had quite a lot of snow between Christmas and the New Year, but beginning of this week, temp got up to 10 degrees C and it was raining for days, so all the snow was gone.

Here are some pics from Last Night and 2 From Today:
No snow, sky crystal clear, but cold -25c (-13f) 11:00am. Last night was the coldest I have seen in a very long time, my digital thermometer registered -36.6c (-34f), it broke a record for this date going back to 1981. Very happy that I didn't have to go anywhere this morning, not sure the truck would have started.

Tammy, our snow has started melting but still remains brutally cold outside.
We got some 8 inches of snow. We still have flurries, maybe its cause of the wind.

Next blizzard I get here, I will try to borrow a video camera and wander around outside to capture the carnage. All you snow lovers will quickly realize that snow is just like rain, where a little can be refreshing, but too much can cause disasters, not only immediately, but also in the spring when it thaws and causes major floods.
Ask Canadians about the ice storm down East a few years back, or the great flood in Manitoba, or the big Calgary blizzard of 1998. It causes inconceivable damage, takes lives, costs millions of dollars, and often shuts down cities and schools resulting in hundres of thousands of dollars in lost revenue. Those who just get a light dusting can count your lucky stars, because I am sure even the snow lovers would be singing a different tune if they ever got hit with a major dump. :yikes:

Should I reply, shouldn't I? To heck with it:-
Sounds like you've had some nice weather down there George, yesterday it was -23C out there (they said -39C with windchill) here in Toronto...
We've had a shedload of snow, I even saw construction yard graders (machines that grade the earth, maybe they have a different name?) out on the streets trying to shift the snow off - I was out on Tuesday and Wednesday and there was a good 10/12 maybe even 14 inches in places... not bad, I love snow, but like TJ said it gets to be a pain after a while...
Today is lovely and warm, it's only been around -15C in the day (though the wind was harsher, not sure what the windchill value was)... At least it keeps our outdoor rinks usable :D
We're having a heatwave this weekend, meant to go up to -4C! Amazingly warm (and it'll feel like it too, T-shirt weather compared to the -30's we've had recently... ;))
We're pretty warm in Toronto too, the likes of Quebec and further north get it way bad (although ironically TJ and the guys out west have the heat that we had a while back, as those guys get it worse than us I think).
As for the ice storm, I've seen a few books and images, that looked horrific - a very real and tremendous natural disaster (which, I never knew about until I came here - world media sucks).
I'm off to skate, enjoy...

I wouldn't mind the snow to be honest..
All of these wild afternoon thunderstorms following very high temperatures are annoying. Yesterdays one was quite bad, though I've seen worse.
One Police officer was lucky - driving his new Ford Falcon back to the Police station. He knew a storm was soon to happen, but was more worried about hail given that it was a brand new car.
But rather than being hit by hail, it got struck by lightning. The tyres blew, and the car hurried to a stop, but the guy was okay. The car however was considerably scorched, but otherwise the occupant survived unhurt.
If he'd had a window down, he might not have faired so well.
It was all seen by a truck-driver who was following the car as it happened. He was amazed to see the Police officer survive.

It has finally come to an end... my good weather, that is. Last night it started snowing, and by this eve, it was a considerable accumulation. Temperatures are slated to drop to -36 in a couple of days, which will certainly bring the end to many poor homeless peoples' lives. :(
While the temps are supposed to rise again before I hit the road next, I am sure that the frozen freeways will take yet more lives before this crap lets up. Snow is only pretty until it is red.

Many crashes here in winther also :'(
Most of the serious crashes are when snowing, and before the snowcleaner has been there, or when salt-truck has just have been there.
Too many drivers seems not to be aware when the friction changes up and down, and so many are driving with poor tyres.
The only thing that helps a driver to handle driving on snow and ice is practice, and full consentration.
The dirty thing when getting a uncontrolled slide is meeting traffic, even worse is it when meeting traffic are sliding towards you..:help:

By Wednesday morning, we could be under 12-18 inches of snow in Northern New Jersey and in and around New York City and on Long Island. Southward, we'll see just a bit less.
This time I don't have the camera; my parents borrowed it, since they left on a vacation, last week.

Hole arse-cakes it's cold out there! My thermo reads -33, and I just had to walk about 3 Km to change a tire for my Dad. Even with all my arctic army gear on, I still felt cold spots on my legs, and my nose was numb, even beneath my Eddie Bauer snomobile mask. If I showed you what I was wearing, you would think I could walk around on Pluto and not be cold, but it is absolutely insane outside!! The wind chill supposedly makes it -47 C, but thankfully I had no exposed skin. :hphones:

Hehe, I knew they are shocking;
The camera cannot see what the eye can see, that what's making it look so wild.
In real it was possible to see the sides of the road, at each side of the road there are tiny white reflectors each 50 meter, and the lights ahead was some extra meters (camera has not low enough LUX value)
When meeting cars, you can see it far ahead because of the lights reflecting snowflakes in the sky.
And I know the road well, infact it was one of my best tours ever driving on snow, really nice it was :)

Yes, normally it's a must to stop and wipe the lamps clean of either ice (packed snow) or salt-dirt, but this night there was no traffic and the snow was extraordinary dry, so it did not pack as much as usual, only the innersides of rear-rims, the rear-window and bumper had some "snow-coating" when we ended the trip (snowpacking onto the car is caused by turbulence, similar to rain)
I know you was joking Mark ;) , still, look at 1st carmovie when I meet the long-veichles, the 2nd long-veichle has clean front, and it has probably followed the 1st one a long way.
If the snow was packing (not dry), the front would be all snowy. ;)

I just got back from a road trip that I didn't think I would live through. On the way up on Friday, we hit a friggin' blizzard and it was a total white-out. You could not see more than 6 feet in front of you, and the snow just covered the highway so no lines were visible, and the ditches blended in so you couldn't even tell where the road was. It was genuinely frightening, because you wouldn't dare stop for fear of being run into by a semi or something, and there was absolutely no way of telling when a safe turnout spot was coming up. Basically, I had to just guess where the road was and hope for the best. Unlike dozens of other motorists who landed in the ditch, I managed to keep the van on the road and somehow made it through safely. The aftermath is pretty grim too, and the roads are still covered in snow and are slippery as hell. I hate snow, plain and simple, I wish it would all just GO AWAY! :wall:
