Hi all you clever people,

I have a "slight" problem with Internet Explorer, and wonder if anybody knows how to fix that.

I would like to open IE maximized all the time. I managed to configure the IE Shortcut in the Quicklaunch to open IE maximized, but as soon as I rightclick a link and say open in new window it opens in a tiny little window and I have to resize it every god damn time.

I was searching the web and all the solutions there (Hold CTRL ALT SHIFT while resizing, dont close with the X ....) did not help.
Microsoft site only showed some solution for IE 5 which also did not work.

I am sure that it worked before somehow as I would remember if it always was such a tiny little window but I dont know what I did.

Anybody knows ?

I use Windows XP and the IE Version is 6.0 with all the latest Updates.

Wat u do is open a ie with nothing else runnign that uc an interact with. the just run IE and maximise it and close the window and it should do it, it did it for me.

I have windows 98 with 5.5 and a while ago I I lost javascript and it doesn't work at all, even tho it is enabled in the security optin and stuff, I can't view any emails in hotmail or otherwise and is really anoying, gonna install firebird but want to see if i can fix up ie, would upgrading to 6 help?

Thats not it, I can resize and reopen the one window with no problem, but if I click a link on that "primary" Explorer window and it opens up another window that one is tiny. I can resize it then but when I close it it does not store that settings as the next link window will again be tiny.

EDIT: OK forget about it, found the solution.

First open IE "primary" window.
Open link (or rightcklick and "open in new window")
Resize that "secondary" Window as you like.
Close the "primary" window
Close the "secondary" window
Now it has stored the settings for the "secondary" window.
If you close that one before the "primary" it will not save the settings.

Very strange.

Heya FEZ
Thx a Lot !
Even i was experienceing the same problem until i read ur post. Whenever i clicked on any link my IE would open up in the smallest possible size. And i had to resize it every damn time. It was getting quite irritating.
I wonder wat caused IE to start in such a small size :?

@Volt: My guess as to why IE was opening a secondary window with such a small size is....<drum roll>....one of those annoying pop-up adds (or similar).

If you consider the behaviour of IE that Fez described, if you have ever closed the IE "primary" window and then found one of those annoying pop-ups that hide behind the primary window and then closed it, then all subsequent "secondary" windows will then be that size. That is until you do as Fez described.

Just a guess. :)

Alternatively , you could download one of the browser skins that allows tabbed browsing ( i.e. Avant or one of the numerous others ) , allowing you to bypass any small secondary windows .

*Note : I dont use or recomend Avant , it is there only as a reference .
