Just adding a little to what the others have said.
Although we are a stock team the IPLpounge caters for stocks n mods and anyone is welcome to download and use it.
I can only apologise to the HS community as this is really not for them as it loads IP addresses directly into PU sav files.
I dont suppose that it would be to hard to convert, at least the chat side of things if enough of you are interested but having never raced HS online I dont really know.
If you have any feedback for us:-
alt@teamrs.co.uk
jmac@teamrs.co.uk
or post in public ip forum at www.rivalstock.com
A big thank you to all my beta testers, many of whom have nothing to do with Team[RS].....

To John, Ray, and all others which may be involved:
CONGRATULATIONS FOR STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT!!!
It is just what PU community needed the most: stable meeting place where we can make and join races, AND chat in the lobby! -^
Beside that, I just  its auto-insert-IP feature!!
Woooohooooo!!!
:joy:
C'mon all, get it, try it, and I am fully confident that you will adore it the same way as I do  :D
Huge thanks for it, here is a whole box of :beer:s for you!
:ghug: !!!
Great work on the public release. I like the "Who's in the pit" trick. It was most interesting helping with the beta testing although I did'nt do a lot. Now that it's public, we should see a whole bunch of racing nuts online there. It's gonna be a blast!!:HB: Seeing as ncops is failing me most of the time, it will be great to have a place to race again. CU all in th [RS] IPLounge.

Been using the lounge for agout three weeks now. Had fun finding bugs to keep John and Ray busy, lol.
The greatest thing was being able to just go in and chat, is a blast, been really missing that.
I wonder how many people will actually read the read me file that Ray spent so much time composing, hehe.
Thank-you very much for such a noble effort.

OK. I guess I have to be doing something wrong here. I did read the notes. I extracted the .exe to my Porsche save game folder. Then sent it to my desktop. Nice RS Porsche icon.:) When I open the program I see my name [XR]Elvs in the login spot. I hit login, and then it reads connecting. 30 secs or so later it tells me it failed.:(
Did I do something wrong?
Also. Can you use the program 24/7 like NCOPS? Or can it only be used when you are on the internet?
:help: :help: :help:
Great looking program and very well thought out from what I see for options and the way it functions.
I can't wait to get it running. :help:
Is it made just for the 3.5 version? Which I'm using. I have never had problems getting on NCOPS. So just wondering since I can get on NCOPS, I'm assuming I can use this program also and get on alright.
HUGE TNX TO ALL INVOLVED -^ -^ -^
This will increse my PU racing a lot:)

Yes it is very nice to have a lobby to chat in again but I am having to go to the races manually, probably coz I have too many installs of PU on my PC (2 on the C drive one on the F drive and also another on my networked laptop  )

I wanted to post a shortcut to the "Updated iplounge.txt" file here so that those of you having trouble with the Automatic IP Insertion feature might get a better understanding on what and why you need to prepare your system for it.
Pay close attention to the paragraph that starts with "IMPORTANT" (top of text file).
New and improved iplounge.txt file (http://www.rivalstock.com/iplounge.txt)
I hope this helps those of you who are struggling at understanding how it works. I will say this, if you stick to the 12-digit entry as outlined in the file for any IP entry in NCOPS, you will be able to use our IP Lounge.
Cheers
Come and see the Team [RS] IP Racing Lounge (http://www.rivalstock.com/iplounge.zip)

Sent a post to nfscars. Lets see if anybody there picks up on it. Not many posts for PU but some are still there.

just a question..
When I'm trying to try those auto join pits...
It shows:
Cannot save IP -
Please load an IP of 999.999.999.999 as last race and try again
Unable to join race
Well, I've done the 999 loading..
But when selecting persona, I have two [SK]Wazza's... one would be 3[SK]Wazza.sav and, the other could be one of my older names, when I changed it over wrong.. but could be in say 3[Wazza].sav file name.. but the online name of persona shows as SK still...mm
So I did try both of them, at seperate times... still showing please input 999...
[RS]JMac
12-16-2003, 04:50 AM
I know the input thing is a bit confusing but heres how it works.
Whilst you are in the lounge it opens the sav file you are logged in with and adds the IP you wish to race at.
PU stores this number in two places, as the last number and as top of the IP list
I am restricted because PU will not let me alter the filesize without corruption which means I can only alter an existing IP.
For that reason I need a 12 digit IP as the last and this has to be unique so if you used 999.999.999.999 the first time you must change it for a second attempt.
The procedure:-
1. Run PU and load the persona you wish to race with
2. Go to multiplayer / Peer to Peer
3. Type in a unique 12 digit IP (like 123.123.123.123)
4. Click on connect and wait for 'connection lost' message
5. Close PU (File is not saved untill you close PU)
The most common error is not closing PU which means the 12 digit IP is not saved.
Once completed you can use the lounge with the persona you have just set up.........or complete procedure for all Persona's.
(Note IP is loaded to the Persona logged in at lounge)
This will stay set until you enter a non 12 digit IP into PU forcing a repeat of the above procedure.
To keep it set you can pad all IP's with zero's making all IP's 12 digits.
so 172.23.1.23 becomes 172.023.001.023
Alternatively let the lounge do it for you, by joining races there or by entering any IP into the Manual IP box and clicking on Man IP.
Hope thats helps
[RR]TriG
12-16-2003, 08:18 AM
Thank You for the clear instructions JMac. I will try this again, as my error was not closing PU after intering the 12 digit IP.

What the heck was this post doing on the second page?
Wazza
12-17-2003, 12:38 AM
I found my problem, being I had files called:
0[SK]Wazza.sav and 3[SK]Wazza.sav
"0" was 376Kb, and "3" was onl 320.. But had been used recently, whereas the other was moniths old.. Maybe an old garage. I always use the guy, "3" persona.
So after doing this, there was only one [SK]Wazza on list, and it worked fine.
However, upon trying to join a race, and alt tabbing, and screwing a lot up..It was now showing me in lobby.. and twice in the pit I was trying to get into. Whoops.
:")
Hey that little proggi rocks -^
I tried it yesterday, even reinstalled PU (after some months of a PU less PC).
Anybody have an idea why my system locks up as soon as I click "RACE" in multiplayer IP2IP ?
I can join races, and it works.
I can create races, people can join, but as soon as I click "RACE" game locks up.
It does not happen when I am the only player in the race.
I have forwarded port 9442 on my router, but am wondering if there is another port necessary when you are the host ?
[RS]JMac
12-17-2003, 03:51 AM
Ports:
PU uses 9442
Lounge uses 6445
Lounge is actually closed whilst racing and the port is not active.
As your copy of the lounge initiates a call to the server you should really have to do nothing and if you are able to log into the lounge then that is working fine.
I suspect FW is not the problem as people are able to enter your pit, ie have already been allowed past the firewall.
However I have seen a few others with the same problem, so if anyone knows what this is or the solution let us know.

Team [RS] great job on this lounge, looks great!!!
I posted a reply at NFBS.NET, but apparently PU racers don't frequent that BB much.
How about making it also work for HS? I know that the HS community is significantly smaller than PU anymore, but there still is a core that continues to work on HS (a complete set of MOD tracks, plus some MOD cars have been made), and having a lobby such as you have made for PU would really be great.
Is it possible to modify it to work with HS? If the answer is NO, then is the source code available for others to try to make it work?
Again, great work on this :HB: , I may have to get back in to PU soon!!

If I can get an indication from the ncops2 team how long they are away, ie to know whether the time involved is worth it and if ncops2 is still a way away I'll be happy to do it for HS too.
It needs someone with a good connection and a windows m/c to run the server.....are there HS teams or coordinator of some kind?
KillRide
12-22-2003, 10:36 PM
Mac,
I am about the closest thing we have to a coordinator at this point.
Please let me know what are the requirements to be able to run this prog. Is a static IP required? What kind of monthly traffic to expect? (maybe you don't know this yet, as you guys are just starting to use it). I have cable, with U/L of about 256Kbps, is this enough? I really think that the HS community is fairly small at this point, so there prob will not be a huge demand....... What is m/c?
I can look around the HS community to see if what is needed is available, once I know what that is.
The latest thing that I have heard about NCOPS2 is that they have not been doing much on it lately, as the guys who are coding it have been looking at NFSU. Maybe not the most up to date on it, however.
Thanks in advance, and race on, Bud!!

Figures for last 24hours upload 9.72MB download 3.74MB.
max transfer rate is 12.27 mbps.
m/c = machine - currently running on its own machine with win98se, but tested with winme and XP home. Machine is PII 450 with 256mb ram.

Maybe not the most up to date on it, however.I am one of them, and I can assure you, [RS]JMac is right: VERY busy, every single day! Advance appears to be slow because the low level infrastructure is currently in-build(?), but once this "basis" will be done, things will "move" faster, much faster... :)

Hi [RS]JMac and all...
Another voice from the HS communinty here. I have been staying quiet with the developers to let them get on with things... I had thought about getting your source and trying to mod it for HS, but I can't support it myself... I'm thinking all you need to know is that the last-used TCP IP is maintained in the config.dat file in the game's SaveData folder... I could send you an example of that file if that would help... wish I had more time to devote to HS issues these days myself... still looking forward to data gathering for the NCOPS folks when and if they ever need it... thanks for all your awesome work guys...

the run path which I will get from registry.
persona or persona's - this I assume is config.dat.
IP location - config.dat.

First time trying to use IP in 2-3 weeks..
And now shows new version. SO i see its the same file..
Now I download it.. stops at 257Kb, and says its not a valid archive..
Everytime I try to redownload it, even saving as a new name, it downloads instantly (saved in temp files somewhere)...
So I can't seem to update with the new version.
How can I get around this?
Edit: Seems I could download if I chose "open" rather than Save As..

its quite simple where you would normally type an IP, type in the word 'iplounge' lowercase no quotes.
Then use lounge as normal.
This version uses the 'HOSTS' file not the SAV file.
Anyone who actually uses the hosts file may want to make a backup before using.
Get it here (http://www.rivalstock.com/iplounge.zip)
HS'ers this is good for you, conversion should be minimal, will be in touch soon.

Ok JOhn,ill tell u exactly wat i did so far..
1)Just downloaded Ip Lounge and replaced v1.1 with the latest v1.2
2)Went on IP lounge.
3)Everytime i hight light a race,and click on Join race.......it says "DISCONNECTED"
4)So Bobby ([SK]B10) Told me to download it again.
5)So i delete all my earlier traces of IPLounge from my PC and start a fresh Download.
6)Befor this i reboot my PC.
7)After Downloading it.....i goto the Lobby.
Now wat is happening is that everytime i try to click on "join race" after highlighting it it says "DICONNECTED"
Everytime i click on the "EXIT"Button it says "DISCONNECTED".
Something even weird is happening,Now after all this........
The moment i click on Join race........it is saying "PLZ LOGIN"
I am like wtf.......i am chatting with Bobby and TM and its tellin me to login.
And ontop of that, the Logout Button is Grey and the Login Button is active :?
To Get a better idea of wats goin on......here is a pic
And a few other things......the Create Race Button is always Grey and i cannot get the cursor on the manual Ip Box
Now it is saying "Unable to change drivers whilst connected
"

12 A QUOTE from Gamespot reveiwer Greg Kasavin
Porsche Unleashed features automobiles exclusively from one manufacturer. What's more, the game has a more detailed, more realistic driving and physics model than its predecessors
Porsche Unleashed is a beautiful, comprehensive, and highly enjoyable racing sim that's suitable for just about any driving enthusiast. It makes no false claims about the limits of its extensive features, so although it'll give you a chance to experience what it's like to drive all the different types of Porsches from over the years, it won't let you race those cars against their competition from other exotic-automobile manufacturers. Nevertheless, once you get behind the wheel of one of the high-performance machines featured in Porsche Unleashed, chances are you'll feel no need to drive anything else for a long time.

Team [RS],
First off, I just want to say that, thanks to your help with converting your IP Lounge over for HS, you have helped in rejunivating HS online racing. I suggest that you read the posts (http://www.needforbetterspeed.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=9208) over at NFBS.net, if you want to see what kind of impact you have made. The response so far has exceeded my modest expectations, with about 2X more ppl DL'ing the program and checking it out than I expected.
Secondly, there are a handful of people who are having some problems with using IP Lounge for HS. For these ppl, I was wondering if there is a possibility of "enhancements", if and when you ever decide to do an update to the app. The first, and probably most significant, is that some people, tho they are not many in number, run IPL and the app cannot find their HS application. I noticed in the PU version of the program that a browse dialog pops up if the program cannot find PU - was wondering if this feature can be included in the HS version? Otherwise IPL cannot find HS, and you therefore cannot use it to race online.
I guess that these others are "nice to haves". I am only including them as a reference for the developer(s) to use for improvements.
1) It would be nice to have the chat thread "saved" between joining pits and returning to the main lobby. If the app is only suspended, the text (or a portion of it) could be saved into memory and retrieved.
2) Typing a web link into the chat would turn it into a clickable link automatically.
3) Set it up so only one person can have a name in the lounge at a time. Currently any number of people can use the same persona in the lounge. Not sure if this can be done, but it would be nice.
4) Prevent "blank" names from being used in the lounge. Yes, there are idiots out there......
5) Some ppl have requested an optional "sound" to be generated when a message is written/recieved, so that they can tell when someone comes on/becomes active.
6) Different skins/color combinations choosable?
7) Don't know how hard this would be, but would be nice to have the IPL window resizable?
That's about all I can think of right now. GREAT PROGRAM, and thanks so much for helping with the HS community. I think that a joint HS/PU Main Lobby might also really help to pull the older NFS communities together - it might even add to some cross-blending between the HS and PU members...
Cheers, and keep up the good work!!!!

I'm trying to get the ip lounge installed but I'm getting an error message.... =((
! C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed - Porsche Unleashed\rebuilt.iplounge.zip: CRC failed in iplounge.exe. The file is corrupt
I tried deleting it and downloading it twice - anybody able to help a poor weasel get back on the road?
Lets see... win 98, p4 1.8 gig, nvidia geforce mx 4200, 380 megs of ram, vortex au 8830 sound/game card and logitech momo ff wheel. Have most recent drivers for everything.
I recently have had a bunch of conflicts from earthlink software (since deleted) I ran scandisk and defrag and now PU sound is delayed by a split-second. I think this happened before but I don't remember how I resolved it.
Gotta love knowing enough about computers to get in trouble but not enough to know how to get OUT of trouble!
Any road, I'm trying to get back into online racing, I love PU... MCO is never coming back so I want to rejoin my buds on the PU tracks and make weaselworld live again! I also have gotten my boyfriend hooked on PU now and so I need to get up to speed on the new online racing program so I can bring HIM up to speed on the online racing program. Hi Vic!!! :shake:
Most warm welcome back to PU!
:joy:
What a wonderful news you brought: Weaselworld comming back  with fresh new PU racer! -^ Woohoo, welcome SixtyOne in advance :HB: :D
Now about IPL. First find and delete that rebuilt.iplounge.zip file as it is obviously corrupted.
Then download (http://www.rivalstock.com/iplounge.zip) it again, but not into your PU main folder, lets say to C:\
Then make new sub-folder within your PU folder, using Windows Explorer, let's say:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed - Porsche Unleashed\IPL
Then unzip the C:\iplounge.zip into the above mentioned IPL folder using WinZip (it will tell you if the downloaded file is corrupted again).
Finaly make shortcut to the
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed - Porsche Unleashed\IPL\iplounge.exe
on your desktop.
That's it :)
Just click on the new shortcut and join us... Hurry! :D

I can get the IPlounge working fine and showing pits and chat too but when I try to join a race it loads up my PU game ok and I select IPRacing and enter iplounge but I always get connection lost message. I can join other pits when I know their IP by typing it in manually but most pits only show the IP as xxx's thankfully Ralpies did show his IP and I was able to join in. Sue, You might try this first... find your hosts file (I know that for Windows 98 it is located in the "C:\WINDOWS" folder) and delete or rename it to hosts.sue - or something like that. Then try running IP Lounge again. If this doesn't work, leave a message here or in the Team [RS] IPLounge forum for [RS]JMac and he should be able to get you going.

I too get the ddhelp.exe error - but ONLY when I leave High Stakes and go back into windows. DDHELP (Direct-Draw Helper) part of the DirectX 9.X update that affects a few of us.
I found out the other day that when I attempted to use online play in High Stakes that I was first instructed to update the program via the EA servers - and it did just that! The update ran and I am now running v4.5 of HS. I am able to run the HS Lounge but have not tried to join any games in progress as I'm still attempting to learn how to drive in the game again.

Great to hear that some of you PU ppl are getting interested in running HS!!
Couple of things to remember about High Stakes:
1) The main BB for High Stakes (as far as I can tell) seems to be www.needforbetterspeed.net. In the High Stakes forum there you can find most all information that you might possibly need to get up and running on HS. Probably the main thread that you should look at is THIS (http://www.needforbetterspeed.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4162) and HERE (http://www.needforbetterspeed.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4366) . The second link takes you to a link for DL'ing the 4.50 patch, plus many others to allow you to get all cars/tracks for racing online, NoCD, Lix patch, among others.
Even after installing the 4.50 patch, I recommend that you still go to the EAOR server (It is still active, believe it or not) to make sure that you have been patched to the latest version. Do this by trying to get online with the old EA server. It will check your version and update accordingly, then give you a 'not responding' error message.
2) The SPOT patch is really needed to successfully install HS on a newer computer (XP or 2000 OS) and video card. Get it HERE (http://www.isys.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/files/spotpatch.zip) .
Hope that this helps some of you who are interested in checking out this old game. Not nearly the core community online for this like there is for PU anymore, but still many old friends come along every so often to see what's going on the HS IP Lounge (http://www.rivalstock.com/hsiplounge.zip) .
Cheers,

I d/loaded and installed the "NoCD" patch from that or another link and I still MUST have the CD in the drive in order to play the game. Without it, I get an error regarding "not being able to find music or some sound files" [sorry, didn't write it down]. Any suggestions?

One possibility: Did you copy over the MOVIES and MUSIC directories from the CD to your hard drive? That is described in the README file within the NoCD patch.....
You will STILL have to have the CD in the drive. However, the game only checks for the CD at loadup, all other information is pulled from the Hard Drive. That saves wear and tear on your CD, plus makes the game load faster.
So if you have several computers you want to load HS on at the same time, you will need to insert the CD at load on each of them. Once in, then you are good to go.........
Needing the CD is part of EA copy protection, I think.
Cheers,

edit: dang it, the game keeps crashing and when I reboot, it sets the vidio settings back to default 640x480. When it freezes, the cursor is frozen but the "race" button at the bottom of the screen keeps spinning. Sometimes I can hit "escape" and unlock it, sometimes that doesn't work and I have to reboot. I can't alt-tab out or ctrl-alt-del out.
win 98, p4 1.8 gig, nvidia geforce mx 420 (64 meg), 380 megs of ram, vortex au 8830 sound/game card and logitech momo ff wheel. Have most recent drivers for everything.

Hi wello,
i have too problems with joining to race. When i press join race button game sometimes (often) not start - only IPlounge went in suspended menu and thats all. And sometimes when i clicked on suspended screen - lounge went back to lobby and game just started ( very strange - so raced and at the same time i was in lobby!&(
I found that when this happen you can launch game manually and join multiplayer like always, because IPlounge sent IP informations already so you will be able to join race which you selected in Lounge. Only difference is that by this you launch game manually :)
Hope this can help you, see you!;)
I don't have a real solution, but I need to tell You all what I discovered with my XP and experimenting with higher security strategies.
When run with user level security rights (i.e. belonging to the predefined security group "Users"), IPL do start, but every time you click at Login drop down list, "Form 4" dialog pops out and asks for the correct path for PU itself (1st symptom). I guess I found the reason for this.
If you browse for the correct path, IPL will start fully, BUT you are unable to JOIN any game (2nd symptom). Don't know exactly why. Adding r/w-rights for the hosts file (and the directory) didn't change this behaviour.
And hosting a race does work..
The reason for the 1st symptom seems to be invalid security rights for.... registry searching !! There's 3 queries that will be blocked before "Form 4" appears:
1 iplounge.exe:2032 OpenKey HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion ACCDENIED
2 iplounge.exe:2032 OpenKey HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion ACCDENIED
3 iplounge.exe:2032 OpenKey HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Porsche.exe ACCDENIED
And the reason for this...? Maybe IPL tries to open keys for modification. That would need Admin rights...
The quickest solution for this small prb is to use admin rights to run IPL. So if you want to use "user-level rights" you need to start IPL by selecting "Run As.." / Administrator from the IPL's shortcut's mouse menu.
Just F.Y.I.

I also had the exact same problem described above. Could not join a pit, but could create one without a problem. I also assumed there was something in the registry preventing it and went about setting and resetting permissions in there, but alas - I was still stuck with a 'connection, lost'
What I've discovered however is that the problem is not with the registry, but rather with the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\Drivers\Etc directory. If the permissions are set at the defaults, your user-priviledged account will not be able to write to the HOSTS file to tell your computer what IP address to use for 'iplounge'
Thus, your computer will be unable to locate the server, and unable to connect. To correct the problem, log on as an administrator, go to that location and right click the 'etc' folder. HIt properties, then the security tab.
If your windows login isn't listed there, go ahead and hit Add. Type your windows logon, and hit OK. Then highlight your login from the list and click 'Full Control.'
If your name is already listed there, or you want to adjust the settings for all users, you simply need to Edit the correct permissions by selecting the user or group and clicking the appropriate boxes.
Apply and OK and you're done.
Hope that helps some of you. :Peace:

Hi ya Dilly
I think what you are describing is it exactly the problem I have in joining IPLounge Pits. When I access the etc folder I see no security Tab and under the sharing Tab it says " All the options on this tab are disabled because this folder is used by the operating system"
I suspect this is because I have XP Home edition, any ideas on what else I can try to work around this.
Sue  :Peace:
p.s. I managed to get to that Security Tab by using SAFE MODE and added my login with full rights but still I can not join the pits arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Sue my dear, you'll need to log in as the "Owner" account. Sometimes the owner account isn't listed on the welcome screen where you log in to your user account. In order to access it you should press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice rapidly. This will give you a text style login prompt. From there simply type Owner as the account name. Hopefully you know the password to it. If not, try leaving it blank.
There may be other options, but they would involve using the Command prompt interface, which tends to be a bit more confusing to many people.
Lemme know if you need more help.
Edit: Scratch that. On a second reading of your post I realize that it sounds like you've already gotten the permissions set on the folder. I had a problem with that as well . . my solution worked for me initially, but after a reboot it went back to the same situation. My solution has been to run the IPLounge program under a different user's credentials. You should be able to right-click the shortcut to IPLounge and choose the option to "Run as..." Select the option to run iplounge as Owner, this should work around any problems.
Also, in order that you may see the advanced controls of the folder you may want to turn off "Super Hidden Files" in your windows explorer. Go to 'Tools' -> 'Folder Options' -> 'View' tab, and uncheck the box to "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)", also uncheck the option to use "Simple File Sharing", if you have it.
Unfortunately I'm not as familiar with the intricacies in WinXP Home vs. Pro -- you may not get the security tab despite that change.

But I did change the etc folder rights (and the hosts file specifically too, to be sure) to be able to write there. I did not try "Full control" because I didn't see any reason for that, I just added the Modify and Write rights for my account.
But that did not help. I still suscept those failing registry reads. They do fail when run as a "user" but not f.ex. when "RunAs Administrator".
Maybe there's something in group policies that could also fix those registry reads.

oh, and btw. If You can't find the Security tab from your XP Home, try booting into "Safe Mode". It should appear then.

F.Y.I. all,
v2 of the Team [RS] IP Racing Lounge is still moving forward. In case you didn't know, [RS]JMac is working very hard to incorporate FULL support for all of NFS:High Stakes online play as well as all of our great features in NFS:PU.
One feature that I am very pleased to see in this (soon-to-be) release is the ability to WHISPER - with sound, no less! Along that line, there will be a "log-off/out" warning using the same sound file.
I've seen it, it's really looking good and I can't wait until all of you get to play with it also -^ .

Hello Tammy! ;)
I was looking for the link where I got the IP-L v2b from, just couldn't find it, so I uploaded the version I have on my system! Look here (http://www.metalcommandos.com/nfspu/downloads/iplv2beta.zip).
Oh well, after registration be patient for around 20 mins, that's the time which could need the registration. ;)
Have fun with it! :)
Hi Tammy m8
Great to see u back here, would be wonderful if we
could do some racing again :joy:
If u have d/l the correct ver u shuld have a zip file with 3 files within:
ipl.wav
WinPcap_3_1_beta.exe
trsclient1.exe (shuld say v2beta6 at the end of the name int the window when u run it)
After axtracting the files
You must install the WinPcap_3_1_beta.exe
after that i think you just run the trsclient as before.
Directory don't seem to matter (at least it didn't for me)
Good luck m8!!

Heya Chris :D
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! I am now in the process of setting this up.
I take it you have to register for a password or something before you can login?
At the moment it keeps saying "Website 1 not responding - retrying" so I suppose I have to wait for it to finish finding itself!

I would love to race with you all again. Been very busy with different things but now have some more time to play with.
What has been going on the last few months? I can't get to grips with these new boards and I don't normally post here anymore.
If I manage to get this thing working I will see you in there! :D
Yes you have to register Tammy
Sometimes it takes a few days, guess it depends on how often

I did register and received a password back almost immediately, as they are using a CGI auto mailer.
My problem is that when I start it up, it just sits there searching for servers, and nothing happens. :(

Hi Tammy
I the lower left corner there is a server selection list
Normaly there are 2 or three servers there. One PU server.
Maybe u need to open up port 9442 (UDP), but that should be just for racing
once u have PU started as far as i know.
Good luck!

I checked my router, and 9442 UDP is open.
This is what I get when I open up the lounge:
http://www.nfscity.com/media/images/rslounge.jpg
It can't find any servers, which is why the server box is empty.

Click on the help button in iplounge. Try to find answer there.
open port TCP 9442 in router and/or xp
turn off xp firewall
turn off 801.2 authentication in network advanced
turn off discover settings in internet/lan settings
windows\system32\drivers\etc there are 3 files named hosts, hosts.ipl and lmhosts. Rename by adding .bak these files associate to iplounge and will not affect your os.
hope something helps Tammy

Sorry all, I've had computer woes of my own - my P3 is STILL down and I use my wifes' Celeron 500 (my old puter) for backup - checking email, etc.
Tammy, have you ever gotten the lounge to work for you yet?
I noticed that your last post was on the 6th of Sept. and here it is the 16th of Sept.
I haven't been here since shortly after my surgery - my journal is in the Forums over at rivalstock.com if any of you are interested. Look for "My Vacation" as the title. It is in the public section of the forums.

Hi Tammy,
I saw on the RS site that there might be problem if u install the latest ver of IPL in the same folder as an earlier version. The config files seem to interfere with eachother.
So try to make a fresh install in a new folder and see if it helps

In case you are not aware, the IP Lounge program is now producing statistics. You can take a look at this location (http://www.rivalstock.com/IPL/stats.php) for some of the results that have been recorded so far.
There is also a new online help file located at this location (http://www.rivalstock.com/ipl2_help.htm) which explains the improvements to the program. This document (produced by me) includes many screen shots. It also includes a "Q & A" section at the bottom.
I just wanted to make sure that those of you who have been waiting on these enhancements (stats collection) are aware of what has now become available.
Be sure to update your download of the program from the Team [RS] download page. (http://www.rivalstock.com/download.htm)
Enjoy! :)

hi team RS and everybody else,
I just installed iplounge but I cant seem to connect. I think it might be because
- iplounge does not pass the correct IP to PU or
- some routing issue (unlikely because the comp is in DMZ)
- something else I didnt figure out yet

Have you read thru the help file (button on bottom row of IP Lounge)? You don't need to be logged on to access it.
If you continue to have problems, visit the Team [RS] Support Forums (http://www.rivalstock.com/forums/index.php) for more suggestions and a place to post questions. I'm sure that there are postings in there that can help you sort out the problems.

Well I decided as its 2005 to try out racing with my friends on the IPL.
But once again I am unable to use it.
I have gone onto the RS forums, but yet again there is no clear indication of:
1) What version of the software is in use.
2) Where the latest version can be downloaded.
3) If there is indeed a current service.
When I open my IPL, all I get is a HS server. The version I am using is v2beta6 if that helps.
Can someone from the community please tell me what the current situation is? It would seem the normal PC used to host the code is offline due to someone going on holiday.
Thanks in anticipation.

I know that you have already sorted this out, but I want to point out to you that you can always get the latest version of the IPLounge from this address (http://www.rivalstock.com/iplounge.zip). The version that you are using won't work properly with the current server version (now 7.5b).
Always make sure that you DELETE all previous files from your installation folder BEFORE you update from a previous version. There are times when the files DO NOT get overwritten properly and problems occur. You will need to run the installation for all included files in the archive in order for client to work properly with your setup.
Also, it has come to my attention that the Backup Server that I'm running at my house while JMac is on holiday was down for a bit, today. Sorry about that. I usually peek in on it from time to time to make sure it is up and running but life does happen and ... well, you know the rest.
You can always post a message in the Public Forum(s) at the Team [RS] Website. I usually check there more often than I check here.
Cheers! Happy New Year
I've downloaded the latest version and all I get is a program called WinPcap? what is it?
Edit: cleared caches and it's still doing it.,

The current iplounge.zip contains 3 files:
beta75d.exe dated 10-16-2004
ipl.wav dated 6-6-2004
WinPcap_3_1_beta.exe dated 3-14-2004
Extract them all to whatever folder you desire.
Turn off your virus scanner if you have one.
Run the WinPcap_3_1_beta.exe which will install the packet capture utility that will allow you to "capture" the race times and send them to the stats server (if you are hosting).
The IPL.wav file is used to make a horn sound when someone in the lounge whispers to you.
The beta75d.exe file is the lounge client software. It has been at version "d" since October last year. This is the application that you run to launch the lounge. I created a shortcut on my desktop so I could launch it easily. Once you are registered (there is a button for this on the IPL screen) you will need to login to one of the servers. Use the server list dropdown on the lower left side to select the NFS High Stakes (HS) or NFS Porsche Unleashed (PU) lounge. Once logged on use the options button to set your preferences, etc. You should set the capture option to "on" if you intend to host. Once you are logged on, if it is not obvoius what to do just ask whoever else is in the lounge.
See you in IPL!

here is a couple of helpful links to get on the IPLOUNGE and have some GREAT FUN racing NFS PU aswell as NFS High Stakes.
http://iplounge.net/download.htm this link has all the downloads need to run the ipl, aswell as updates for 3.5 version of game, my clean NO CHEATS HACKS ....etc mod car Garage, aswell as a patch for those of you running windows xp.
couple things to remember when racing nfs pu/hs , if u have router and firewalls u must configure them to allow the ports needed to run the multiplayer peer to peer ip part of the games example i run PU daily i must port forward my router port 9442 udp port, and set up firewall to allow PU program aswell as the IPL, remeber that if u run windows XP w/sp2 it has a built in firewall and it to must be configured.
Helpful hit when racing online turn off any instant messager or ICQ u may be running like msmessager....etc, these messager seem to cause great lag when load and racing the game is running.
So get in your chair set back and come on out and enjoy some great fun with old friends and meet some new one's, so what you waiting on ..........:look:

:) IPLOUNGE SETUPS
Ok lets get started with it :
1) Lets start with making a new folder called iplounge , then we will download the iplbeta75f zip file and extract it into this file we have made.
With mouse pointer located on desktop screen right click mouse and then new left click folder
Now locate this folder you just made and right click it select rename the folder iplounge, now with this done we can download the zip file from http://iplounge.net/download.htm called IPLOUNGE it is a ZIP file so once you download it, extract the files from the zip into the new iplounge folder you have just made.
2) Lets get the folder into proper location
Now with all the content extracted from the iplounge zip file into your iplounge folder you have made
You need to relocate this folder to C:/program files/iplounge if you have not already located it there, right click the iplounge folder select copy then open your windows explore select C: then select program files right click on right part of screen and select paste, this should paste your iplounge folder into c:/program files
3) Lets setup Option in the iplounge
Ok now open the iplounge folder and left click the do not close folder, the iplounge will open before u do anything else you must set up options so left click options
ok locate the primary PU/HS server bottom left side of page you will need to change the ip address to 68.12.5.181 in both the PU and HS primary server, now store your password and persona name as well to select your adapter for stats and set capture on NOTE: if you run the games PU and/or HS from C: drive no need to set path to the games .exe files for this is the preset path but for any other location then you must specify the location of the exe files by means of setting path, once you have finished all this then select save default in options and close the iplounge.
4) Ok lets run the IPLOUNGE
Ok with the iplounge folder open select the and lets login , there you have it !!!!!!

I use a router myself the only thing you need to do is to enable port forwarding to the UDP port 9442 which is the port the game uses make sure you enable it to the pc in which you are using to play the game ...this is only needed to host you can join a pit without doing this

Thanks for the update. Can one play even if one's ISP uses a router or whatever that thing is that hides/swaps the IP adress?
Frank
Technically, ISP's always use routers... that's kind of "by definition", eh. But, if you mean using a router instead of a modem at home, then it works if you have set it up to work. It's also worth to note that your ISP can block any ports and any traffic they please to "protect" their network, if they wish.
Network address translation means that your router is hiding the local network from the internet by using specific private address ranges designed for this purpose - most common are 10.x.x.x and 192.168.x.x.
You don't need to open any ports to join games in general (assuming that all outbound ports are open by default on your router model), but if you want to host while playing behind a router that is configured to NAT (network address translation), you need to reroute traffic from your router to one of the computers in your LAN on UDP port 9442. Routers call these configs "virtual servers", port forwarding or whatever.
I'd like to point out that you can have a router that is configured to bridge with no NAT enabled, in which case your computers on the LAN are visible to the outside and using public IP addresses provided by your ISP's DHCP server (dynamic or fixed IP addresses) via a DHCP proxy option on your router.
I have had no problems with NAT. I can host just fine and consider NAT safer because the router is then effectively working like a firewall even if it did not support any sophisticated means to control traffic. Without NAT, you might be relying on Windows to block unwanted traffic to your network..
