So, you want MCO back? It's up to YOU!

As I see it, there exists a very large and very vocal market of ex MCO customers who would literally trip over themselves to sign up for a decent MMORG. This market is ready and willing (if not begging) to put their money on the line each and every month. It can only be a matter of time and effort before some other company responds to this void in the gaming market. A ready-made market of 20 - 30,000 subscription accounts is not a number that many smaller developers could ignore. Aside from the core MCO players, many other racing fans (like myself) would also jump on board. MCO subscribers topped 50,000 at one time and could have grown much larger with proper advertising and support.

I would suggest to you that EA may not be the best company for this type of game. I imagine an up and coming dev house with a REAL commitment to it's games would be much more willing to give a product like MCO the support and longevity that it deserves.

Stop looking to EA to fill the MCO void. They have tried and failed you, ultimately leaving a very large group of their own customers (YOU) up the proverbial creek. Do you really wish to put your faith, time and money on the line with this company again? How you could ever place your trust in them again is beyond me. I have very little doubt that another racing title comparable to MCO will eventually be released, though I can only hope that it is not provided by EA.

Look to other gaming companies to fill your MMORG needs. Companies which are not only dedicated to their products but which literally depend upon them to survive. Companies which could not afford to simply toss a promising product like MCO aside at the peak of it's life.

As I write this, there are dev's out there wondering what their next move will be. You need to be putting ideas into their heads. You need to organize yourselves and let your voice be heard elsewhere. EA is not listening to your plea. There are plenty of smaller dev's out there who may not be aware of the MCO market that is waiting paitently (and sometimes not so paitently) for an MMORG product to support.

Let the other game development companies hear your voice and you may find yourselves much nearer to your objective. Organize yourselves, create a central forum and begin to petition the "rest" of the gaming industry. Start a petition which can later be circulated amongst them. Appeal to the vast gaming news industry to spread the word of your great community which has no home. In short, get the word of your community into the ear's of the people who can respond to it. There are undoubtely many hungry dev's out there who would consider this market if only they were made aware of it's size and dedication to it's genre.

The longer you wait to begin this, the more your community will begin to fade. Now is the time to get REALLY serious and actively pursue this game that you have such a passion for.

While your voices are indeed coming through loud and clear, in my opinion, ya'll are barking up the wrong tree.

MCO didn't work for EA, so I doubt many other smaller companies would dare tread into the same waters.

Teej I reckon that what sunk MCO was the lack of a single player mode, US only servers and the unholy alliance with AOL.

If it was done properly I think it could definitely be a winner :D

I think the MCO concept could be profitable if executed properly. There's enough car guys in the world who'd love a game where you can do what you dream of doing in real life if you only had the time and money.

MCO wasn't it for me. The only part that ever appealed to me was the MMORG part, aside from that I never thought it was much of a game. Out of date graphics, horrible car modeling, and only having muscle cars added up to too many negatives for me to spend $10 per month on it.

A small group of several dozen good programmers and artists who are dedicated car guys (ie, not the MCO team) could make a successful MCO. The trick is that it's going to need to be global, and it's going to need to be more than muscle cars, and it needs to be up-to-date when it's released.

Motor City was Based on the Muscle Car era, but the Devs always talked about puting different cars into the game to give it more appeal to other players. The bad graphics were the result of them starting the game in the NFS 4 era and then having to changing it the numbers of times they did. The parts system and the simulated dyno made it so you could check on your vehicle's performance while you built it up.
The MCO developement team Liked working on the game, Yikes (John Cummings) told this over many of the in game chats. MCO just didn't have the backing from EA and after Seattle shut down the game faded away, Cadilac couldn't do anything about it because he was based out of Texas. We had Twin Cam but they had to learn how to use the "Tools" which were hard to use.
MCO could have been successful if EA would have been more supportive of it, but instead here we are with no MCO (I sheded a tear when they shut it down but hey its life). Yikes says if he got 2 million he could make another MCO type game, with an online/offline option. If I won the lottery I would drop 2 mil on it.

I agree that MCO would have been the cats arse if done properly. What I am saying, however, is that I doubt many smaller companies would be willing to take the risk and give the same concept a fully supported shot. To do it right would take a company like EA to back it up, and since they didn't offer the prper support, the game collapsed. Now the whole idea looks quite frightening to a smaller company.

Unfortunatlly dirtpig , that is not gonna happen . If anyone at EA ever had a Sobering Thought about bringing MCO Back , the Powers that Be would order them to take a Drink ! ;)

Well Folks this really has me wondering if there is a company out there that is listening to the outcry of the racing community. It is very clear EA only wants to cater to the console gamer arcade style games,I for one will not X EA out but I am going to be very carefull when I think I may be interested in their future releases, I feel my money was wasted with NFSU I dont even play now! Same with bf1942,MOH,and all my copies of NFS....If I was able to log into MCO today I would still be playing..I am a long term online gamer and that is the type of game I need..When I first started playing WW2onlineBlitzkrieg it was just out of BETA and it was rough!very rough, the CRS(Cornered Rat Software) team was new, the buget very small and at one time was in trouble..We the community stuck by their side and they (CRS) have provided a war game to this date that is matched by no other, the game is played on CRS servers cheating is at a nill and when computor is set up to run a high end game this game is beautifull..I feel that EA just gave up! I know their was trouble on the horizon for MCO but all online games go through troubled times! but a strong online community can keep a game alive..Look at MotorCityOnline it is still alive but just cant be played.. I just hope someone is listening! ~<dirtpig>~ GOB 4-Life p.s. more later gotta go 2 work =((
