Well, after waiting an extra year and a bit to do my licence (due to moving country) and getting my licence a while ago, i've got a car :)

Its a small red Peugoet 106 XR, with a baby 1.1l engine , but insurance here hates us youngsters with cars, so a small engine = lower insurance. I'll eventually drop a (Citroen Saxo) VTR 1.6 in or (106) XSi 1.4 into it in due time. Both engines perform pretty equally..

The guy im buying it off still has to get a new exhaust fitted, as the current one fell off a few days ago.. literally fell off , so i will only take hold of it early next week..

Pics will come sometime next week when i get it, and when i get online :)

This is the only pic i have of the car, from the previous owner..

My first car was a '70 Ford Cortina S/W that I paid $155.00 cdn for. Real POS, but hey, it ran!!^_^ Had it for almost 2 years then sold it for $150.-^
Good luck with it.

Nice little car.

Good first choice. I like Peugeots very much (except for the newest ones, 407, 607).

I liked the old 306 very much.

Congrats!

At last you are able to park that car in spaces only fitted for "Uno's" ^_^
And that's worthy I can tell :D

Best luck with your 106, that should be a nice car as 1st car -^
You can even rebuild it to streetracer, all parts are available :D

1: drive carefully, learn your brake-limits (I recall a 106 crashing in "this forum" earlier this year)

I recommend you to go for the engine installed now.
If they are pretty equal, you can bet the 1.4 is easier to learn to drive with, and it's probaly most economic among the 2 ;)

I promise you, a small engine will make you understand handling and grip much faster than a large engine, a small engine lets you learn about gravity in a easy way, large engines often puts you out on the edge of the limit (much more difficult to handle if your reaction is not "hyperfast"), a fast reaction is something you need time to learn, so start the easy way, that's the best way (it
doesn't take many months, you will learn quick. so do not worry) :)

The car you have now is very nice to learn the core basics of "real driving", do not be to "cocky", be humble all the time regarding your skills, and LISTEN to the car.
It will learn you alot.

Best luck, have fun, and TAKE CARE!

Congratulations! :Peace: :)

Nice ride, don't do too much to it for a while till you leanr the car as Fiatlove said, that being said, I'll prolly have a large v8 powered car first so maybe a little golf might go alright for my first car....

Wow! What year is it Dunc? That is a bargain - it looks so tidy, hardly any marks on it. I bet it wont be long before the alloys go on and the ice is installed! :D

Clean looking -^ :)

Tip;
when washing at low temperatures, the doors may be hard to open after, if it freezes. To avoid this, wipe the rubber-doorlists dry, then use "silicon-fluid-pencil" on the lists to avoid freezing ;)

And don't listen to Lofberg, there are polar-bears on every streetcorner up here :clown:

nice car :)

I think all first, or some of the first cars you own or buy, always feel special to you.

Even though I had my first car, a 1983 Honda Civic, for about US$120... It was a great car, well worth it...
Insurance was about $20 a month.

Now my current car, the insurance is US$40+ a fortnight

:) nice one - don`t listen to the others...it`s YOUR car, that is all that counts

XR mascot??? sure..just make sure you follow the XR regulariations and paint your car with the following colors:

Black, with red and light gray trim, using the paint trim package 7, for all cars

or:

Gray, with red and black trim, using the paint trim package 7, for fast cars we own multiples of

btw: we you`re done plz post a pic here again :D:D:D:D:D

VQ, insurance shouldn't be that high on it, because its a family car... or at least it has 4 doors, and if I am guessing right, you won't get as good of milage as most... since its kinda old and has a v8.

Had *alot* of fun today, zooming around everywhere :D Done a good 50 miles... getting used to the car more etc, 2mrw will be quieter, as i have 4 classes. Only had 1 today :p

And, my first mods :D

Got the seats (both front and back) out of the scrap XSi that we have, and put them in :) Theyre way better, and have a better seating position etc, and wrap round u. Like wannabe bucket seats :D I prefer the color of them too

Before
http://www.nd4spdworld.com/~djc/106/seats_before.jpg

After
http://www.nd4spdworld.com/~djc/106/seats_after.jpg

Next, change to XSi door cards (so the interiour all matches), swapping mirrors, and roof lining, to the XSI one, as its a darker color :)
