It looks like it might be fun if you like vettes. [RS]Alt 12-09-2003, 12:54 PM I wasn't too interested in the Porsche lineup until I got involved with NFS:PU. Now I'm a collector or model (plastic and metal) Porsche cars - including ones I have to build. Hopefully the system requirements won't mean that I'll have to mortgage my house to buy a new computer to play the Corvette game - it looks interesting. Hope they release a demo. TDK seems to be doing great now, selling good racing games for a reasonable price. I paid $29 for WR and I've played it more than any EA racing title. If you look at the screenshots & trailer at the official 'Corvette' site - http://www.corvettegame.com , it's remarkable how much this game resembles the older NFS games. DCWeasel 12-11-2003, 04:54 AM sounds very cool... it appears they did something that EA could NOT do and that is they have the permission of GM to use the trademark "stingray". There was an issue with MCO where in the lead-in scene and on the MCO box there was a picture of a split-window corvette which was never released into the game because of the stingray issue and not having the right to use the term "stingray". Pure arcade racer. :( Gives me a feel kinda like the old Test Drive games without the time bonus deal. No damage model. There is LAN play, did not see an internet play. Ford Racing 2 is about the same as this game. Ford Racing has better body roll, but you cannot spin out in either game. Graphics at a distance are better in Corvette, but road looks better in Ford... The development team was kind enough to promptly send me the non-released (as yet) beta patch to fix it so now I've finally got it up and running. I would like to see SteelMonkeys given time and money to develop a game, I think they could do a good job. They are working on an online patch for this game for online racing. Hopefully that will be released soon. It's pretty arcadey, and there's no tuning so far except for winning upgrades from some pretty well-known manufacturers (Lingenfelter to name one) I'm giving SteelMonkeys a thumbs up for this one, I think they have the potential to build a very cool game, givn the time and money to do so. I ahve a feeling that the guy that has a full version of the net got it off Kazaa or similar. |
