How is your XP pagefile (the main suspect for NFS problems)? I read that it should be 256Mb or less (see other threads here about XP).
Other hint: reduce resolution and/or rendering details, distance, etc... It can be that in THAT particular point of Normandie the rendering of objects is too critical.
It can also be a corrupted file, in this case save your "savedata" and re-install the game. Check also your disk integrity.

it doesn't lag at that part. on my ond gf256pro (b4 format) there was a little jerk. now it's flawless on my GF3Ti200, even on quincunx fsaa. i run everything maxed out ay 800x600x32
and yeah, why does NFSHS lag so much? and the force feedback's screwed, i only feel sumthing when i crash, other than that, free turn... and the physics is.... wierd..... in NFS3, it was fun, the unrealism was fun, felt like the movies. in NFS5, it's tough, but bloody realistic. but HS i mean... it's niether. the control's wierd, i spin out at a slight tap of my brake and i understeer ALL THE TIME. really sickening.

Yes, it seems to be a bug in win 2000/XP (or in NFS related to XP, dunno exactly). You shouldn't go over 256MB pagefile. It's not my personal experience (I run WinME) but it's been reported in this forum several times and it definitely seems to be the reason.
Someone even suggests to set the pagefile to zero (no pagefile).
Have a look at this thread (http://www.racerplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1016) and follow MATT's instructions.
About the force feedback problems, sorry but I don't have it and don't know how to fix it.

hey man, u rule. 256mb does help
btw
totally removing pagefile screws up windows after a certain period of time, abt after 1/2 a day. things just wun load right e.g. the buttons on IE will disappear
The page file fix is usually only for a problem where the game won't even start up. It does the intro videos then goes to the loading screen but stays there at the loading screen while your harddrive just fills up with useless info until you get a low virtual memory error (and a reboot might be required to fix it). It's a memory leak.
There have been several documented problems regarding Nvidia cards and the Normandie track, however.
Here's a fix Gus told us a while ago:
The problem is the sky textures on Normandie and the nVidia card.
The things that usually work are:
Turn off lens flare
Turn off sky rendering
Set lights on vortex (I turn mine off using the L key)
As another option you might want to try the sky change utility and use sky textures from another track
I have found the best graphics drivers for nVidia cards and PU to be the 6.67 WHQL drivers, 10.80 beta drivers and 12.41 WHQL drivers. The drivers can be found here: http://www.gamers-ammo.com
I have also changed my AGP aperture to 128 based on half my 256MB of RAM.
I hope this helps. Until I worked this out, I killed one hard drive through resets.

Matt,
I must be lucky, I've got a NVidia card (NVidia Riva TNT2 by Creative Labs) and never had PU problems....:)
I assume that it's not only the NVidia, what else should be present to have the problem? XP/2000?
C U
Trust me, it is just nvidia. It'll happen in Windows 98 as well. EA won't admit it often, but they do say that they had created PU with the intentions of having work perfectly fine under Windows 2000 (and XP which is based on 2000). Aside from the memory leak problem, the game runs just as it would under Windows 98 (if not faster). The only problem I've ever seen which separates Windows 2000 from 98 (and its sisters... 98SE and Millenium Edition) is the memory leak problem. When someone has problems on Normandie, it's certain to be caused by something with an nvidia card. I've never had any such problems because I'm still a 3dfx Voodoo faithful (still clinging to my 5500. And I still got Glide too! :P neener neener neener!)
Just ask any one of the Nvidia card owners at this board, they'll tell you the problems which they've had with PU because of something to do with their TNT2, GeForce, GeForce 2 or GeForce 3 cards (no one here has gotten a GeForce 4 yet, but I'm sure the same problems would arise with PU as they have with the rest of the GeForce line).
