In a time of slow business in Australia General Motors Holden announce a record sales in over 21 years.

Although statistics proved us Aussies bought more "fart-boxes" or "shopping carts" as my 10 y.o. calls them (any small car) rather than the family sedan, the Holden Commodore outsold any make in the country by a country mile.
Toyota was second in sales over the past twelve months yet in third was Ford some 35 thousand sales behind the General.

Australia has many of imports and we also assemble many Jap cars too but Holden Commodores alone (not to mention other models of Holden) shone above the lot. Infact one in every five cars bought in the last twelve months wore the famed lion & ball badge.

To all you Aussie Ford owners don't dispare. If it isn't already (heh) put it up on blocks. Then some day you can show your grand kids a piece of history and teach them a lesson at the same time.

"It was called the Falcon sonny. It's the result of sitting on yer fat ass doing nothing constructive, making new racing rules and whinning 'bout them there Holdens going to fast to race against". heh

"Drive on", good peoples, drive on.

That's why their two advertising slogons are "Have you driven a Ford lately" and "Arghhh!"
For those non-Aussies out there, it's true. They are the two Ford slogons. Atleast one of the two is played with every Ford commercial (usually both). Kinda funny how they knock themselves.

the thing is holden could sell more if they could make more, for example they can only make 12 - 14 utes a day and they brobly get 20 orders a day (im just pulling figures out of my arse here(but the 12 - 14 is correct)) so they get long waiting lists ans then people wont buy them cause they dont wanna wait

Good points Dylan & Justin

Maybe it's time for GMC to return the favour by peddling some of our cars over there. Geez that would help the Aussie economy and unemployment situation.

I heard years ago that some phenominal amount was paid for a Holden panelvan over in the States. I forget which model but it was back in the early seventies I think. Now that I think more of it, I'm sure it was in the HG, HK, HT range (1968 - 70 models).

On the otherside of the scales, my ol' mate Cougar wants a GTHO Falcon so bad that he has thought to have a replica one made there.
