If you're wondering why so many photos of similar things, I take along lots of film, and just snap away. I get the cars from just about every angle possible, except from the top.

One of my personal favourites was the Alfa GT Coupé (102-0019), and also the new Bentley Continental GT Coupé, and Maserati Quattroporte, both of which I filmed. The very nice Bentley people were happy for me to film the interior close up.

I can say with all certainty that the Continental GT Coupé is a real Bentley, and finally brings fitting design to the marque. The wood and leather is there still, but it's accompanied by some real high tech gadgetry, modern, more environmentally friendly engines, while the performance is obviously still outrageous.

The Quattroporte looked awful in the first photos Maserati issued to the public. They were dreary photos, that really didn't do the car justice. In the metal, the new Quattroporte has tremendous presence, with lovely, charming details on the grill, the delicately shaped vents on the side, and the delicate curves that, from the front, almost allow hints of the previous Quattroporte Evoluzione.

This 4.2 litre V8 powered luxury saloon with electro-hydraulic transmission claims a 270km/hr top speed, and will have rivals in a panic. It is truly roomy, distinctive, in a way that it could only be Italian and not confused with any other car, and opulent in the manner only Maserati seems to be able to achieve. Not gaudy, and overdone, but elegant, subtle, charming details are to be found in the interior, complete with the wonderfully trimmed seats.

The rear brings the ornately detailed "Quattroporte" scripted badge, and the traditional quad exhaust tips exiting the back, by now a Quattroporte trademark. Mostly, you are left in awe of this car, it looks fantastic in the metal. Yes it's bigger than the old Quattroporte Evoluzione 2.8 and 3.2 Biturbos, but it truly is desirable, very sleek and attention grabbing like no other luxury car of its size.

So why then must BMW persist with bustle boots, flame surfacing and oddly shaped headlights?

Nice selection of photos.. I clicked a few randomly. Wish Auckland had a real motor show, not a "Big Boys Toys" Which has a few exotics, couple of beaten up cars with good sounds, and the few classics I saw.

Maybe I should hop over to Sydney one year.. :)

There was only one Holden on show at my show..
GTS300...

And also outside was a "51" replica Murphy car... thought it was the real thing from a distance, or similar, but it was only lowered, race rims, and standard interior!

)=)

Also, one should not think that by my grouping of the M3 CSL and HSV Coupé 4 photos together that I'm making any comparison between both.

They are radically different cars. The HSV is a quick, luxurious and safe grand tourer for all weather conditions, while the M3 CSL (on Michelin Cup tyres) is a stripped down lighter weight machine, with nothing inside it, and reportedly treacherous driving manners on wet roads.

It's okay in the dry from what I've heard, but it's tyres hate rain.

That's one photo I uploaded but forgot to list:

http://www.totalnfs.net/temp/cpd/2/F1010005.jpg

Using a bright flash, it shows a lot of details you might not otherwise notice on the M3 CSL, particularly behind the grill.

Holden's stand on the other hand left me stunned. It must have cost them a fortune to set it all up!

I got videos of the wierd Subaru B11S concept car as well. It's an odd thing.

Also took videos of the following Pugs (I like Peugeots):

206 GTi 180 (aka 206RC)
206 WRC (aka very expensive!)

Maserati was only on video, not on photos.
