I finally completed the MBWR season, reaching the "End of Season" message

I have now a new idea for an "offline challenge", waiting for the multiplayer :

Why don't we organize a custom championship, grouping several races on several tracks, following a path like this:

A city track with the A-Class
A racetrack with the CLK-GTR
A mostly off-road track with the M-class
A waypoint mission on the G-class
A race on the Hockenheimring on the W 154
anything else you can imagine

I'm abroad for business until next monday, meanwhile we can define together which are the best car/track combos for such an offline challenge ;)

By the way, it's pretty impressive when you look back after you completed the game...45 days and 3806Km to come here:

http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/mbwr-final-01-profile.txt
http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/mbwr-final-02-statistics.txt
http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/mbwr-final-04-character.txt

I'll now spend some time racing on Test Track 2 (the fantastic high speed oval) with the profile "all tracks", until I get all the 120 cars, reaching 109tracks/120cars.

Then probably a whole season on the "all cars" profile until I get 127cars/103tracks for that persona...

Then, then, then......WHEN IS THE MULTIPLAYER COMING ??? :D :D :D

Thats a good idea Corrado -^

I just finished a 100% "regular" profile.

Now I started a "all tracks" profile and drive it without ABS. No ABS really seems so much faster than ABS on.

I did some runs on the Oval, but its no fun as the AI's drive like idiots, even brake when entering the curve and stay low  Even with the A160 CDI (slowest car ???) I managed to lap most of the AI's in an 10 lap race.

But the funniest stuff is to drive the offroad testtracks with standard cars, I was laughing so hard when I saw some of the AI's getting stuck.

With a single lap, driving always the slowest car, the A160CDI, and with AI dynamic-99% it's a bit harder, expecially because you're always starting from the last place (if you never run any championship race you're always placed last).

You're anyway increasing your %, your available missions/champs and your car list pretty fast: 1% on all sliders every other race, 2-3 cars every race, 1 mission/championship every 4-5 races.

At the end the profile will have 120 cars with 0 Km (except the A160CDI) and all the 108 tracks....and probably all championships/missions released but not done, and a good % if not 100%.

I'm not sure that it's a good idea to exchange profiles, but this would be the typical good profile to post for people who care about online gaming and don't like to run a full evolution before going online...I've seen lots of people doing this, some of my friends never played GPL because it requires a lot of offline training before going online &(

Surely better than letting people using hacks, cracks or whatsoever illegal tools :nono: What do you think about it? I don't want to promote something that is considered "hacking" by the community =[

After 1 hour only on test track 2 I've managed to run about 40 races with the A160 CDI... the number of available cars/missions has increased pretty well:

http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/wr-01-profile.txt

The overall skill has improved as well:

http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/wr-02-skill.txt

Not bad for one hour only :D
My extimation is that with another 2 hours I'll get all the cars and in a few more all the missions and championships...the profile, as you have seen, is already called "Rename me" to be my online starting point...

I've started to collect any sort of statistics...:

Best lap from standing point: http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/wr-03-lap-stand.txt
Best lap ever: http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/wr-04-lap-run.txt
Top speed: http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/wr-05-topspeed.txt

And the same in 100% arcade mode:

http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/wr-06-lap-s-arcade.txt
http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/wr-07-lap-r-arcade.txt
http://www.geocities.com/toxi/pics4total/wr-08-tops-arcade.txt

I know...I know....I'm losing time...but the multiplayer is far away :D

Try to set them to "Fixed to..." and choose a value above 90%, it won't be so easy to reach them!!! At 100% I couldn't finish better than 2nd on a 3 laps race...

This is a typical case where "fixed" is better than "dynamic", by far.

I'm still working on the "Skill" catagory.^_^ All are 100% except Skill which is at 95% atm. I've finished all the Championships, and most of the Missions, except for the damn one on ones on the Test Tracks, like "Unequal Brothers,CLK At The Limit, and the one where U have to win by 14 secs. I doubt if i'll ever get those!

Hey Ric, there is an easy trick on how to pass these missions.

DRIVE FASTER ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

I could not sleep last night, so instead I did some speed tests on the oval after Corrados idea. 4 Lap Races with different cars. Some cars (especially the Diesels) need some laps to get to full speed. There are some cars that cannot reach the advertised max Speed, and there are some that easyly go faster. Especially the "big ones" that should be limited to 250 km/h seem to have the electronic limiter removed :nono: ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

Some differences are minimal, but some are serious. I wonder if the performance file for the SL 280 Pagode and the 320 powered cars are wrong ???
The ingame details for the C112 are just wrong I would think 250 vs. 319 km/h

Did you notice that if you drive the oval in freeride, the cars bottom out at the oval and loose speed when doing more than ~230 km/h. If you drive the oval (Testtrack 2) you can easyly drive the oval at topspeed without loosing much speed (2-5 km/h)

Hey Corrado how did you get the A160 CDi up to 171 ? and why is your laptime so high :)

[b]an easier and quicker way[b]

All sliders except experience go up the same amount no matter how short the track, number of laps you run, % AI is set to, arcade/simulation %, or assists. So, use 100% arcade with all assists, AI set to 40%, and run single lap races at a very short track.

You get more experience the first time you drive any car, so drive each car only once until you've driven them all, then stick with the CLK-GTR.

To start from the front of the pack, run just one of the championship races, like the first one at Nevada 14, and you'll start all following single races from the front of the pack.

Look at the km's driven:

Try to set them to "Fixed to..." and choose a value above 90%, it won't be so easy to reach them!!!

This depends on which car you drive. With some cars, the AI chose the same or slower cars and you can beat them even at 100%. With other cars, a few of the AI will get truly faster cars, and there's not much you can do unless you don't care about "unfair", and take the faster ones out.

Exactly. I was referring to the A160CDI on the High Speed oval: The AIs take the following cars:
Yoko has an E-class, and mostly wins
Samantha has a C-class T, second place
Another E class, model '01
An A-class
A G-class
With this set of opponents a "fixed 100%" is unreachable for your A160CDI

You're right, but my purpose is not to complete the profile as soon as possible, but to prepare a "fully unlocked" profile with the minimum of completed tasks.

The method "A160CDI/Test Track2" it's a bit longer but the resulting profile has 0 championships completed, 0 missions, only 1 car driven and only 1 track driven. All the counters for the remaining cars/tracks will still be at 0.

The idea, if you all agree, is then to publish this profile for newbies who need to race online without running the full championship.

In fact the maximum speed I reached was at lap 2 1/2, in a single lap race the maximum reached was 168Km/h.

I actually reached 172 Km/h but it was too short and I could not take a screenshot (it went down to 171 too soon).

The trick for the maximum speed is the following:

Enter the banked section from the middle, not too high or the car will lose too much speed while climbing up, not too low or you'll need to steer too much and lose speed
Stay on the grooved path, slowly climbing up during the turn
Exit as high as possible and use the descending path to increase the speed. To do it, you should pass from the highest point to the lowest following the steepest path (i.e.: driving the car from the right to the left duringt the exit)

The car will over-rev for a few seconds, reaching 172 in the best cases (when the speed was already 170 at the entrance of the turn and around 166 during the turn).

The tactic is the same as for the "top speed" mission with the W156, but here it's REALLY important to avoid any speed loss.

Ah ok, 3 laps is too short for good laptimes. 5 seems quite ok to get an idea what is possible.

I bet with some cars you can build up and gain 1 km/h per lap and so a 10 lap race will produce faster laptimes, but I dont have time to try :)

Not with the A160CDI, though. It seems to give everything at 171-172 just coming downhill from the banked section, then it reverts to 170 on the straight.

You can't get more from it :D

LOL you right :D
I tried to push it on a 10 lapper, 171 was the max. But I managed a laptime of 1:16.18
You can only go faster if you push it down a cliff or freefalling from a skyscraper :rotf:

But it is not the slowest car in WR, the slowest is the G 270 CDI.
I did 10 laps with it, and it took several laps to get it from 160 to 166 km/h and I managed a laptime of 1:17.12

On a regular track the G will eat the A for breakfast :)
