Hi WRers,

1. How come that the winning time is not the same as the fastest lap time ?

http://mitglied.lycos.de/xrfez/Pics/fastestlap.jpg

Or does it mean that it took me 2.5 seconds from start position 1 to the start line ? Does'nt the race/timing start when the lights go out, no matter what your grid position is, in real racing ?

2. How are the opponents cars selected ?
Sometimes they drive faster cars and can easily overtake you (if you dont block them ;) )
I suspect that "The Player" stats is always 100%. So if you still kick the AI's butts even if their strength is at 100% (or 99% dynamic ???) that in the next race they are either awarded or penalised with their car selection.
If you select certain cars all drive the same model (racecars and oldies) but in the modern classes I cannot really figure out why the oponents drive their cars ?
I was just driving a race in a S 400 CDI and one of the opponents was driving a E 320 CDI and one was using a SL 500.

3. there was a 3rd point that I wanted to ask here, but I forgot :D If I remember I will edit it later :D

Ok I remembered ;)
What kind of levels of "unfair" are there ?

I see "unfair" a lot when you get in contact while overtaking.
I also seen "very unfair" when I did run a small A-Class off the road with a monster G-Class, It actually fliped over the rail and fell down a hill.
I have never seen "unfair" when blocking a car that wants to overtake you, even if the other car looses control and crashes when avoiding you.

So has anybody seen an "extremly unfair" or something ?

The time at the top includes the time it took for you to get to the start/finish line, from where you were in the grid.

I have often wondered why the AI drivers don't all drive the same car as U. I like to drive the slower cars(big surprise, that  ) but If I choose an A Class, quite often there's at least one SUV in there and he will simply bump my a** off the road!

Am I right in saying that the "Joker Races" all drive the same car?

Nope, also in the Joker Races they use different cars.
Looks like when you start a new championship, in the first race all use the same car as you select. After that the ones that finished behind you may choose a faster model, the ones that finished ahead of you (if that ever happens ;) ) may choose a slower one.

Answers, as far as I know:

1. Your assumption is correct, the total time is including the time to reach the start line.

2. The opponent's car is the same as yours when you're using a very "special" car, such as an old model or a race car like the DTM or GTR models. In all other cases, it's selecting using a sort of "equivalence" criteria, although I haven't checked exactly the cars selected.

What I've noticed, though, is that driving at "Dynamic" (as I do normally) the opponent's speed/style is always slow enough to let you stay in front if you drive perfectly, although you need a bit of blocking if you're driving something like an A160CDI...;)

On the other side if they overtake you it's very difficult to keep the pace on the slower cars, although at "Dynamic" the AI "waits" for you and is never too far in front (while it flies away at "fixed 100%" if you let it overtake you). The full pack is also driving very close to you, and that adds adrenaline to the game :)

That's why I drive "Dynamic": when you're not the leader you can often find an opportunity to re-gain the first place before the finish line. On new tracks I also let the AI stay in front for the first laps, until I learn the track following it...then I punish the AI :D

3. I believe I've seen an "extremely unfair" once, when I totally lost control of my car under braking and smashed the opponent out of the road while trying to keep my car on the road...it worked :D . But I may be wrong about the "extremely" adjective, I was too busy trying to stay on the road &(

I've found it more comfortable for me to race with the AI fixed @ 80 or 85%. I tried the Dynamic many times, but as I usually pick slower cars, and the pack tends to stay close for most of the race,I found myself getting bumped and pushed off my line and often right off the track.&( In Fixed mode I'm usually racing 1 or 2 AI's while the rest fall behind. I know U guys are gonna :007: me when we get online! ^_^

Oh come on Geezer 80% thats kiddiestuff ^_^

The dynamic AI strength is one of the best things I have seen in a game.

I also just found out the answer to my own question 3 ;)

"unfair" racing accidents when both cars have about same speed.
"very unfair" if you hit another car at higher speed with braking. Example would be a messed up brake and you crash into the other car while still braking
"extremly unfair" if you hit another car at higher speed but without braking :) Very hard to do in a normal race scenario, but just try to go wrong way on a racetrack and hit another car :D
