Great lap -^

I still have to complete that mission, I tried it only once to put the test CLK in my "done" list, but I won by less than the target gap :")

I ran that race with the CLK and aa A Class with a 2 mile head start.Best I could do was 8 secs behind..argh! I gave up.:why:

Using manual shift seems to help a bit, you can downshift and get better braking control in corners.

race with the CLK and aa A Class

I made a video of this one, 57MB file though (2 laps), bumper cam. I have all the driver options off, and 100% simulation mode, but I think these settings are forced anyway for this mission.

Here's the link to the unequal brothers run.

It seems that the MBWR Clk Gtr physics exhibits downforce, which helps a great deal at higher speeds. On that long high speed section on the back half of the track, the car appears to be pulling higher g force on the left, under overpass, right turn sequence. Also, while going up the hill, I get a solid red arrow, but the car doesn't go airborne, and there's time shift down to 3rd and brake much later than the arrow shows.

This track is a bit techinical, rather than trying to take every corner at maximum speed, it's better to keep a tight (slower) line on some of the slower corners to setup better lines for faster sections.

I haven't tried the test drive that has the "best" line showing feature, but I have found that running a singles race, with auto shift, and all assists on, most importantly, braking assist to full, lets a player just concentrate on finding a good line, and the assists pretty much do the rest of the driving.

BTW, Clk Gtr in 100% arcade mode is insanely quick. I'll have to make a video of a fast run through one of the city tracks (City 9 I think, a lot of high speed but narrow bends on this track), really looks cool.

For me, the hardest mission was Super Legends, where you drive the SL 73 AMG versus the SL 55 AMG at one of the alps tracks. The AI in the SL 55 AMG is pulling 2:21 to 2:22 lap times, while my best laps are 2:23 to 2:24, so I'm losing about 2 to 3 seconds per lap. The SL55 has a slower car blocking it at the start, and it takes a while for the SL55 to go by. Also, if I just hold a descent line, without blocking, the SL55 will catch up, but not pass.

Hi ya!

Very good times JeffR!
I gave it a try and made the "CLK on the Limit-Mission" for the second time and my 3rd lap was that... :)

Uhmmmm.....strange indeed...

I have slower laptimes than you have, but the Super Legends wasn't so hard for me. I may have done it twice to win, not more, possibly also once.

The only ones that I had to repeat several times were "Uneven Brothers" (CLK vs. A class, the race mentioned by Ric, too) and then "CLK to the limit", the one you mention in this post.

It took me 4 trials to win on the A class (won by 5-7 seconds) and at the end I knew every single inch of that "test centre 5" track, so I could try the last mission that I wasn't able to complete before: CLK to the limit.

At the end I closed it in 9:26.90 leading by 0:21.11 on Tom...

As you see, my best lap is only 1.51.89, that's why I don't understand why you had problems in one mission I can't even remember as difficult

Maybe just different driving styles :D

Part of this depends on how much of a lead you get at the start. Most of the time, with a good run, I'll get a 7 or 8 second lead on the SL 55 before it gets past the slow car in front of it. I've messed with this mission a bit, and once in a while, the SL 55 is held up for quite a while before getting past that car in front of it, and I get a 21+ second lead, so I can be 7 seconds slower per lap and still win. Apparently there's a bit of randomness in the AI behavior, probably depending on which AI driver is in the SL 55.

Later I found that the SL 55 will tail gate your car without passing as long as you don't make any big mistakes. When SL 55 is tailgating, you can brake and then take off to get some distance ahead of it.
