have a look above for the usercp button, that takes you to the user options. now go to edit options and look for avatar at the bottom. it was very finicky (picky) about the size/type/colour of the avatar that you can use. Just use the [ img] tags to display your pic below the post, but make it small, or you'll get an earful from those of us with 800x600 screens.

Whoo hooooo, my first post. finally got it all working!

from the 'edit avatar' page:
Note: the maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 20000 bytes (whichever is smaller).

This might be the cause; your image is 150 x 112 pixels, try resizing it. (on the previous board, JTace had customized the maximum dimensions)
I can't guarantee it will work though, I tried to upload my old license plate avatar (100 x 50) and it says it's not a valid Jpeg or Gif file - not sure why.

Remko, I get the same error message when I try to upload my avatar as either a jpg or gif. It is 100x57 and is 3KB.

me too. the avatar I used to use wouldn't upload and I know it was the right size! Kept getting an error message saying it wasn't a jpg file or something like that (but it is a jpg so what's up with that?)

70% of the australian national park has been burnt(second largest nation park in the world) , and all of sydney is covered by a big cloud of smoke , l think the poluttion rating was 200, but the average was 20 before the fires...........

l feel for all of the ppl that have lost there homes......

I know how devastating wildfires can be. I live in a "fire" belt too, in eastern washington state, USA. One year we called the summer fires "Firestorm", there were fires everywhere and it's so hot and dry and windy there's no stopping it. The biggest one was man-made (thanks to some dope camper who was welding a wee spot on his boat...) but some are caused by lightning.
Whatever the cause, I pray everyone stays safe and hope they can get them under control quickly! Last summer 3 young firefighters died here - they were college kids volunteering, and it was so tragic.
